Call me and idiot but wouldn´t it be cool with one round of AMA SX with only total stock bikes ? Directly from the showroomfloor. No aftermarket exhaust, no graphics, no factory tires.

Total stock ! Tires that are mounted on the bikes when buying it at the dealer, stockbars....yes you get it. The only thing the teams can do to the bike is put gas in and put numbers on it.

I know this will never happen due to sponsors and all that but just a little dreaming.

Why ? Just for the fun factor and interest of how the bikes would hold up for it. And how the riders would deal with riding with a stock bike. SillyUnsureDizzyWhistling

I think a pro SX racer could be seriously injured racing a stock bike.

You wouldn't race a stock car at a Stock Car race?Grinning

You mean, like, an honest-to-God production rule?

Maybe not exactly what you described, but it would be cool to have a "IROC" style serice like NASCAR used to have. I always thought the Kawasaki Race of Champions at Englshtown on KX 80's was cool... might be neat to see what the top 10 in points could do against each other on the "exact" same equipment.

Very unsafe, but would be cool to watch.

I think for "safety", they could change the spring rates, oil height, bars, bar height, and rear sprocket gearing only. Other than that I don't know why it would be "unsafe". Even then, it's still your fault for over riding the bike.

In the 250 class, every single motor would blow up.

I agree, the injury factor wouldn't be worth it.

Everything would be fine.

Too bad it couldn't be done.

if there's one thing Meg and myself have learned in the past 6 months of sending in our videos to XVideos to win an extravagant package at Hedonism III for best amateur video, it's that you can't compete without professional equipment.

my bed side lamp and Nikkon SLR doesn't cut it with all the high technology camcorders and light booms.

pro's don't work with amateur equipment.

someday though bros, someday

That is a pretty dumb and obvious statement.

Motocross=unsafe no matter how you cut it.

Pros have safe bikes and the rest of us have unsafe bikes? Perhaps the rest of us could sue the Japanese and KTM for selling us unsafe bikes?

If speed increases severity of injury, if stock bikes cause Pros to ride slower, would they not have less severe injuries?

I like the idea, but I agree it will never happen

Besides the debate of whether or not it would be "safe", it wouldn't be very entertaining. Between the bikes being less capable than what they actually run & the riders not being comfortable on a bone stock bike (as suggested), it would make for a pretty lame race. Let's stick with machines that are on the same level as the riders Wink

I think the idea has been thrown out there for the 250 "support class," no?

Suspension would be the obvious exception, but it would be interesting to see a "mostly" production class.

The main reason why it would be interesting, is just to see how it changes production bikes that are released. The manufacturers are already this competative, imagine if they had to actually race stockers....
