Our AMA guys are blazing fast.

I'm watching the Canadian MX's now, and their riders seem very capable. But, stick any one of them in an AMA Nat, and they're lucky to break the top 10. Not to take anything away from the Canadian MX guys...they kick butt. But, dang, our AMA guys are off the chart. It's no wonder they walked from the rest of the world in the MXDN.

Not sure where this statement is coming from, but both the supercross guy and the motocross guy used to race elsewhere. Reed and Langston, ring a bell ?

There, I bit the bait right off the hook and did a runner.

Uh, they do race for the AMA, right? I'm talking race series, not nationalities. The AMA seems to get the fastest. What I'm getting at is the disparity between race speeds. I enjoy the Canuck Series too. The guys look top notch. But, you stick them in the AMA, and the best would be lucky to break the top 10.

...gotta set the drag right so I don't lose this one....

The canadian mx on Speed is edited to accentuate the speed/jumps with limited close/angled shots they only show for a second before cutting to another. Our tv coverage tends to be edited in a way that shows more of the track - cameras farther away make it look slower and the hills much less sloped, and the length of the shot they show is usually longer before they cut to another. Carpenter won the Canadian mx last year and I can tell you he never looked that fast on tv in the nationals here.

canada has always had some marginal racers. I used to beat a guy named Jim Turner here in the states quite often. he was pretty good but not the fastest by no means. he went up there to canuck land and won the national title. pretty cool but that showed how fast the canucks were/are.

The line broke!!! So you got two in 40+ who can average top ten, but the the retired US guy gave everyone fits last year; especially the Aussie. Brought him to tears and a crackling voice a few times, and made him quit MX. " title="Laughing">

Those tracks are really awesome looking. Some of what they called "European sections" (deep pits) are awesome. We need to level the playing field and give them our SX outdoor tracks like our new Texas National track...what a pile of garbage.

Good post! I had a buddy who raced D class at the Monster, the dude was always at the back of the pack. He showed up every race and gave it his all. I more respect for him than the fast guys.

I had to go check the schedule...I was honestly hoping you were joking. Why would the CMRC do that? Especially after Wildrose put a fair bit of work into the track last year? By all accounts, the track at Castrol Raceway(or whatever they're going to call it next week)is a piece of shit, so much so that I've never put a wheel on it. I've not heard a rider say anything good about it.

the cmrc had no choice , calgary said no thanks , we have lost enough money the past few years . cmrc offered it to raymond and they said no thanks , we will lose money . the whole way the nats in canada are run is fucked . monster signs on as series sponsor and the purse money goes up by .... nothing . stallybrass only cares about lining his pockets . lots of people from this forum say the tracks are really cool up there but the thing is ... most of the best tracks in canada dont have and dont want a national ! ulverton , deshambault , calgary , raymond ...etc .

thats why the racing is better up there . if you dont make that last lap pass you might not have enough gas money to get home . " title="Laughing">

It usually seems to look like there's hardly anybody at the Canadian MX races; they always look so empty. Hopefully they're used to that, and they can remain operating.

Eddiebrown is pretty much bang on. I've had dealings with Mark Stallybrass (I was a regional CMRC rep, Prez. of our MX club, and a race promotor). The Nationals are the ONLY thing that matters to him. With regional stuff you could barely get his attention. I had to deal with hiw wife Jan (great lady!) and some of his other staff to get anything done.

And he's right about Edmonton getting the Calgary round.

You'd think I'd be excited about Edmonton getting that race. The really funny part is, in a remarkable display of foresight and planning, the CMRC race is going to happen the same weekend as the Edmonton round of the Champ Car World Series. If you thought the tracks looked empty at other places...
