I regularly go to this island and it rains there pretty much every day all year long. Connection-wise, 2 out of 3 airlines flying in to Bangka are banned in air space outside of Indonesia. Indonesia is a pretty undeveloped country and the little islands around Sumatera are the poorest. Go figure ??‍♂️.

Great let's race in third world country's. And avoid the beautiful tracks Europe and the USA has to offer.

That's downright crazy!
Wheres Make1go and his Political correct baton to tell everyone Indonesia is paradise hence 2 races there?
At least labor is virtually free so plenty of people to shovel the mud out and free the bogged riders

"He will get an arse full of the blurts and lose 4 kilos 100% this weekend.
Meanwhile a mix of 12 Australian, Pommie and Brazilian boofheads will wipe themselves out on rented scooters and 150 odd Javanese will die in dodgy work site accidents.
That's about Indonesia this weekend. Then they follow it up in another part of the shit hole next weekend."

My post from the Herlings Indo thread- I just left out Monsoon everyday, and didn't get killing the fucking two Gp leaders!

This is the one thing about MXGP that I really dislike. Youthstream will take the race into an African Ebola zone or onto Antarctica if they can make some $$ with it. Things are already prohibitively expensive and they have a hard time filling the gates in places like Russia and Latvia, let alone Indonesia.

I like the idea of going all over the world but what's the point of Indonesia, Thailand etc? Bring it to Australia and New Zeeland instead + markets where the sport could grow, I know Indonesia isn't one of those places. Maybe China?

China is on the calendar for next year. Would much prefer to see it go down under rather than Indonesia.

That could have been tragic. Thankful that everyone was okay. I have to agree with some of the posters in here though. There's a ton of great tracks in the US and Europe. And it truly doesn't make sense to me that they go to these places in the first place.

Sure its great for the countries economy but it seems more dangerous than anything for the fans & riders IMO.

I was in a Beaver float plane over Labrador once & the pilot couldn't get the wheels back in. No matter how much cranking he did on the cranky handle wheel raising thing.

Maybe he tweaked something while he was spinning the thing in circles on the tarmac before takeoff to get the one side freed up.

That was an interesting trip.....

I don't have a problem with the tour visiting countries like Indonesia. I think the championship should be a "world" championship and give undeveloped countries the chance to experience motocross.

But for fuck's sakes, can we please have the race on a cool track that isn't going to get rained out??

I fly for a living. You would never catch me or my family on any Indonesian or asian airline. Ever.

I fly for a living also and couldn't agree more with that statement.

It depends. Airlines like All Nippon and Singapore Airlines are safe and service is top notch.

JAL? I've been to Tokyo twice on one of those. Should I count myself lucky? Blink

I hate flying. Always have, always will. Something like this would have me looking for the long way home.

My last flight was coming back to California from New Orleans. Lots of storms in the area and a very rough flight. I was not doing well with it at all but looked across the way from me and there was this big Texan/Cowboy dude (boots and hat and the whole getup) He was sitting there gripping that seat for all he was worth and had his eyes closed. It at least gave me a chuckle.

Really sketchy, that is the thing you would not even wish to your worst enemies.

Glad they are safe now.

Total BS send all that money and effort there to "race" in mud at rainy season.

I too am glad all are OK. That would definitely be no fun.

Regarding the picture, has he been hanging out with Baker? Dude needs a cheeseburger or three.

Just a little FYI no plane has ever gone down due to turbulence.

Yeah. It seems like either ignorance, misplaced nationalism, or a hint of racism to discount ALL Asian airlines as unsafe. Certainly no factual basis to that assertion.

To be honest it wasn't very likely to rain. Rainy season starts on October over there so they actually did put the race in the right time.
A few years ago they had a race in Brazil in the heart of the rainy season. That was pretty dumb.

Well there’s an ignorant statement if ever I’ve seen one.

Sure there are plenty of dodgy Asian airlines, but I can also name 4-5 that I’d gladly step on in preference to some of the shitty ones in the US.
