Any word on why we're doing both the 250 and 450 guys at the same time? I used to really enjoy these come Sunday morning but having 6 guys up there getting interviewed at once has really killed the flow of the discussion for both the 250 and 450 guys.

Suggestion: If you're going to have all the guys up there then focus on the 250 guys first then transition to the 450's. No need to have 6 guys ping ponging back and forth talking about 2 (or more) different races during the same discussion.

The 450 guys didn't like waiting around, and the 250 guys would all bail and be gone by the time the 450 guys were done. Overall, I think it's a better format the way it is now.

This isn't meant to be taken as a compliant, more an observation, but from the press conferences I've seen this season (only a couple) the new format seems to take away from the more-casual/humorous style the 250 press conferences had last year. 250 riders being interviewed with the 450 guys seems to make the vibe more serious.

I do miss that a bit, but if I was a rider I'd like this new format better I imagine.

250 guys don't like waiting around.. Come on. They answer questions for 10 minutes then they're out.

I figured wait time had something to do with it.

Shame, I really enjoyed getting a small glimpse of everyones personality in the old format. This new format has really tightened everyone up a bit. Hard to get into that flow when you have to wait 5 minutes between questions.

Oh well, better than nothing.

Carry on.

I liked seeing 450s getting asked separately but in a way I like combined because I tend to skip the 250 interviews so I get to hear them a bit rather than none, since I never miss the 450 guys.

Why don't they swap the order every race?

One is a regional series one is a world championship, leave the 250 guys to be interviewed during the week by the media outlets, just have the 450 guys up there.

Though I have enjoyed the 250 press conferences, but having them all up there was not good.

End of day does not really matter, I just was not a fan of it.

I just wish some dudes would ask different and/or more direct questions instead of the usual oh how was the track that they’ve answered 85 times already lol. No offense but honestly think some of the journalists need to think outside the box a bit. I liked that Matthes asked Roczen if he had been too patient to pass Savatgy it forced him to give a clear and direct answer and also rattled him a bit. I dig that stuff because that’s when their personality shines. Obviously not to disrespect or bait them into a shitty response, but ask them stuff they have to answer directly. Ive always wanted someone to ask them the exact changes they make to the bike when they say they’ve made a changes

I think it's kind of for the media as well as the riders. The media, while we participate in the press conferences and try to ask a couple questions, we are all more interested in the 1 on 1 time we get in the scrum sessions after the press conferences. What you guys don't see is after the press conferences, it's a mad dash by the media members to get a few riders 1 on 1 before they duck out of the conference rooms.

Problem is, when they've done the 250/450 separate, the one that is done first, those guys usually duck out quickly or are over it and don't really want to wait in their gear for the second presser to finish and to answer 90 more 1 on 1 questions and duck out.. Same goes for the guys that go second, they've now waited sometimes quite a while for the presser to get going, the first class to go and when they're done they duck out. In the end, these guys have raced mains, done post race questions from the stadium and NBC sports, had podium celebration, done a press conference and answered 1 on 1 questions from media and just want to get out of their gear, shower and relax a minute. It's hard to blame them.

I have not been at the last two rounds since it changed, but I like it in concept. In theory, the 450 guys now don't have to wait for the 250 guys and are likely more open to doing some 1 on 1's because they haven't answered 100 questions.

Get rid of the post race winners stuff and walk thru the pits afterwards and get us the real stories!

I can think of 5 really good interviews, they would have come from the crashes in the 250lcq

That's all valid.. I guess it just makes me wonder why the press conference exists then? If they're doing 1 on 1 interviews as well..

You'd think it would be one or the other

I was a media guy for 17 years. I rarely got anything good out of a press conference. Catching guys in the pits one on one got the best comments and answers. Some day I’ll transfer all the tapes and make a digital podcast of them. I did it from 97 to 2014 so you can imagine the interviews I have. RacerX still uses a lot of my quotes in the 1 race section of the magazine from time to time. Donn’s “how was your weekend” was an awesome thing too. Way more personal.

We don't do interviews in the Alpinestars Mobile Medical unit.
