Anyone had an issue with buying through RMATV internationally using PayPal? They rejected my order saying they would only accept wire transfer and that would incur an additional $35 USD fee. Contacted them via the Chat feature and they confirmed it. WTF.

Shipping was like $130 USD. Pretty disappointed as I now need to wait "up to 30 days" for the refunded money to make it's way back into my bank account. If they don't accept PayPal for international orders then they shouldn't have allowed it. Currently transferring my cart to BTO...

I love Rocky Mountain. I have no issues. Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75. Great return service. Great prices on closeouts.

Yes, I know all about it...they won't accept credit card payment online from Japan either.
Their international payment system sucks, and needs modernising.
BTO Sports on the other hand, no problems there with payment.

Yep. I tried RMATV a few years ago and had much the same issues as yourself. BTO got my business as well.

RM has always been my go to site for years until recently. I went years without a single issue but the past 4 months I've had nothing but. I've ordered a lot of OEM parts that all said "5+ in stock" after I paid the confirmation email they would send 10 mins later would say they were on backorder. I usually throw in some sort of cleaning product or lube/oil when I make an order and the last 6 orders the cleaning product has always been wrong. Too cheap of an item to bother returning, but annoying. I've also had a ton of issues with returns, one of which I'm still working on. I returned a header and exhaust, unused in the package. I received a refund for the exhaust, which they graciously refunded to their "RM Cash" program and not the PayPal account I used to pay for it. Not a big deal because I planned on buying a different one from their site, but I didn't get refunded for the header. I tried to chat with them online and numerous emails and got nothing. 2 weeks later they replied to my messages and let me know the refund was just being processed. For the header, they gave half of my refund back to my PayPal account and the other half via gift certificate to RM. I'm clueless why they'd do this shit.

Regardless, they have been great to me in the years previous so I'm sure I will still frequent their page but it was odd to run across this thread during a time I'm thinking of frequenting a different site.

I've always had good luck with RM, real quick shipping even to Canada.. but $35 USD? Yeah that's bullshit IMO. Good thing you have options.

Paypal is notorious for not paying the seller funds if a buyer disputes it, whether its legitimate or not. Perhaps it's worse with international orders for some reason? Reading between the lines, perhaps RM decided that they were losing too much money and no longer has that as an option.

Wire transfers arent cheap and maybe they are passing the cost on, if its used as a pay source.

Do they not take credit cards for international orders? Im not quite clear in the original post.

Maybe they are having problems with CC companies refusing payment on international orders?

Although, tons of retail outlets take CC's for international sales.

Kinda weird. Would be interesting to know RM's reasoning.

No, they won't accept credit cards in Japan. They didn't offer an explanation when I contacted them..
I know BTO accepts them, and they've never had a problem with payment from my bank or credit company..and neither has the dozens of other companies I've bought numerous items from throughout the years.
It's their loss, and someone else's gain at the end of the day.

"At this time, we can only accept a wire transfer as a form of payment for this order due to fraudulent activity involving non-US issued credit cards. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. The wire transfer fee is $35.00 USD and has been added to the total amount of your order. This order will be held for 48 hours if we do not receive payment the order will be canceled."

Concerned about fraud.... would have been nice to know this restricted the purchase methods before submitting the order.
