Man I love those DiD U-rims. Had them on my 2003 KX250. So cool and different.

I watched a video on youtube a couple months ago where mechanics were talking about Ricky's SR250. I don't that there was one piece on that bike that was stock. It was interesting to see how they used carbon fiber pieces and one off brackets and stuff to make the bike appear "stock" when it wasn't even close.

Not sure if it’s still the case, but at one time, Kawasaki’s “production” bikes for the US team were selected from the regular production line and given special treatment, rather than just pulling random production bikes. I don’t recall all the details, but MXA and/or Dirt Bike talked about it once back in the 90’s.

see in the bottom picture of RC's bike does anyone know the reason for the small bolt into the side of the frame below the gear-lever ? seems very odd place for a bolt

My guess would be a drain hole? Just tilt the bike to that side and let the water flow,

They all do that and they always have since homologation began. They look for the best welds and castings or parts within certain tolerances. Its more about potential parts breakage, like magna fluxing the cases and looking for casting flaws in cylinders and stuff like that.

They had gold ones too. What i liked about them was the "raw" texture they had. Made them look like the unpolished works rims from the 80/90's.

The design was poularized by the Odyssey BMX company in the early 90's and the adapted to mx. Kawasaki said they shed mud better and thats why they used them. They were pretty strong as well.
