First off I want to start out by saying this is not meant as any disrespect to Breece or his team but I'm just confused about this situation. I happened to come across a post that Breece posted on Instagram and Facebook asking for money from random people for the "BARE necessities to make it through the rest of the season." He list all of these needs that he needs money for which are all shown in the picture attached. Here are some of my questions. Breece just won the German supercross championship which I have no idea what that pays but I do know Jason Thomas has been on the pulp show saying that it is a profitable series. Also Tyler Bowers has mentioned that he uses that series as his money maker and is able to put that money into his race efforts all year. Breece just won that title over Bowers so I would have to think he earned a similar amount of money that Tyler makes. Also Breece has been a consistent main event guy which at the very least earns him $2000 for a 22nd place finish in a 450 main. I also know during outdoors last year he traveled to many big money local races to earn himself some extra money which I know was profitable for him. This makes me wonder how some privateers are able to even make it to the races because Breece has expenses but it also seems that his team covers many expenses for him. Is this more of a Breece problem or does it show how unhealthy the sport is for some of these guys? Obviously I believe that the purse should be more but even though he's on a team I understand the HEP might not be as healthy as they look from the outside but if he can't truly afford to race then how can over half the guys that attempt to do it at that level? IMO, it’s the sports problem. Feld only pays out like 8% of their profits to the riders I heard on a podcast the other day. Most sports are around 30-40%. Riders aren’t allowed to sell there own merchandise at races and $2000 isn’t a whole lot of money. I do understand Ryan has won some things and it is a little questionable, but honestly this doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibilities. On no salary, even if he made every main in one month (4 weeks) that’s only $8000, still $300 shy of his expenses. If this is a so called “professional” sport then the riders who are in the mains events should be paid accordingly. Which makes me believe it’s a problem with the sport, not Ryan.

Here we have a guy who doesn't have a salary and is racing at the top level of our sport making main events in a completely stacked 450 class. Do we all agree anyone who even qualifies for the night show should make more money? I would have to say most people will agree with that but they don't hardly make a thing. This just goes to show how broken the payout is for these guys so no I really don't mind Breece reaching out for help to make the best of his already stellar season. Let the guy try and hustle and help himself out.

I'm now going to go find this page and donate. Thank you for sharing.

He didn't even mention transport and lodging for the race unless his team is paying for it. I have a friend that was trying to get a team running and the hidden expenses are brutal. There were "sponsors" that never payed up. After their graphics were on the team truck. It can be a shady business from the privateer side of racing. I thin his requests are legit.

The older I get, the faster I was.

He should call JGR and see if they could hook him up the rest of the series. If HEP is paying 722 and not Breece they are crazy.

I feel like this will not go well.

Problem i see is the return on investment that he offers. How much would i be willing to give him for a signed jersey in return. He's basically after a wealthy benefactor because any investor in his program isn't getting that money back. Probably also not getting a logo on his team bike, or his team jersey either.

It was 8300 for the rest of the supercross season if I read it right.

Put the numbers all together off his post. His expenses are about 3k a month. Let's say 4k total a month on random things he didn't list. He makes 2500-3k a week when he makes a main between purse and contingency (from public posted numbers). That's 10-12k a month. Yes he should be paid more, no doubt, but how is he scrambling with a 6-8k a month profit. Plus just won the championship overseas, and purse money from all those races.

He needs $8300 (3 months grand total) to make the rest of the season but he makes well more than that in just a month. Not knocking anyone or anything but where is the money going?? Did the team just up and stop supporting him besides a weekend bike? So many questions not answered in his post.

A-Ray said he made roughly 60k on the team last year all-in, and he missed a few mains

I’ll probably get told this is ridiculous but, I think the manufacturers should give every rider that makes atleast one main event on their brand a free bike for the next model year. It wouldn’t kill their profit by any means and give the privateers some help.

Maybe he thinks he is worth more than he is making and doesnt want to spend his own cash. So he needs to step it up or re evaluate his situation.

I'll bet he has a boatload of prior debt to cover also, and he is trying to keep from drowning in it. Not really what you want to be thinking about when in the whoops or lining up the triple.
Maybe someone can dig up the video where Magoo insists the 40th place finisher at a national should be earning 100k pr/yr. In that case I would go 250k pr/yr for SX.

Everyone says that the top 20 in supercross should be earning x amount per year. But nobody ever explains where that money is coming from. Its just a given that somebody should give it to them.

If you're a privateer without a salary and can't survive off 2k a week purse payout then that's on you. Either find a job that pays better, or get better and earn more.

I've got expenses as well but i'm not asking my facebook community to help me cover them.

This is sad.... I don’t have the answer but for a top tier guy like this to be basically begging for money is a sign that this sport will eventually die off... who in the there right mind would chase this dream...

He's not paying for bikes. He doesn't own the bikes but he rides the teams bikes and it looks like the only thing he pays for motorcycle wise is the gas to practice. Also he mentioned in a comment on Facebook that for the money races he races in the offseason he gets free bikes from a local dealer. So he gets free bikes for superiors, free bikes for Germany, and free bikes for his offseason racing/practicing.

Suck shit Breecey! It's Capitalism and if you can't swim Champ you better learn to breathe underwater.
Seriously thats what quite a few are saying in here! Umm aren't you fans of the sport? Or are you actually fans of Feld and that's why you're here. I bash Feld because they are greedy with their profits verse the Athletes.. Feld do a top notch job EXCEPT this. To agree doesn't meen your a socialist, communist or whatever. It's not like he's the first to plead the case. If a top 22 guy earnt 5-10k more from racing; Would that hurt anyone or actually benefit the sport?

He should take his issue up with the OEMs, who apparently find it more valuable to pay amateurs to race 4 events per year and do laps at the puppy farm in between.

Thats one way to look at it.

The other is that FELD provide the platform, its up to the rider, the manufacturer, the team etc. to decide what they're going to do with it. I agree that an extra 5-10k for each of the top 22 would be good for the sport. I disagree with the ascertion that it is FELD's responsibility to provide that. Ryan Breece isnt providing any value or return on investment, he's asking for a handout. It may get him to the end of the year, but is it going to get him to the end of his career?

How much do you think FELD already cop up just to get the show on the road? Isn't it something like 18 trucks on the road each week just to move it around the country. That's a much riskier investment than anybody else in the sport, they deserve to make as much money as they can for that kind of risk.

If he’s asking for money like that, I’d like him to be up front and show his 2019 tax return.

If he’s making 50k a year and asking for that stuff, ok I get it. Pretty hard to pay for the things he has to on something like that.

But if he’s making 250k a year then that’s a different story.

Either way, if you like the guy I’d fully willing to throw money at him or through a go fund me or whatever. If I was wealthy I’d give him 10k just to help people live their dreams in a sport I love.

I do wish it was more lucrative for the pros not-so-high on the list. It is what it is. Its a shame. The 100th best pro in the USA should make 50k/yr. Only going by other sports, where the 250th pro makes pretty decent bank. I have a dream!😃

What does that have to do with it? They're successful so they need to pay the successful tax? If they weren't making money then guys like Ryan Breece would be flipping burgers because you can guarantee that if FELD stop making money on supercross then they stop making supercross.

If privateers can't live off 2k a week for making a night show then they need to get faster, or get money elsewhere. My point is facebook panhandling isn't going to fix the issue.

He probably didn’t have the kind of ride that many assume he had in Germany. I’m guessing he may have brought home $10-15K US at the end of the season. Many rides don’t have all their expenses paid while they’re over there.

Remember, he’s not Tyler or Matt. They both got paid decent money to go over there. “Decent”.

I can appreciate the kid’s humility and honesty. It shows he’s not afraid to go wherever he has to go to make his season happen. I like that. Matt raced with him in Germany and had only -good- things to say about him. I like that, too. Goerke respects those that have to “work for it”.

If you don’t think he’s worth it?
FINE, don’t contribute.
But, coming in here and talking shit at or about him is a pure Bitch-Move.

Me, I’m gonna reach out and see if I can get his Pro6 HT for during the week taken care of.
This kid is worth it.
Good things to Good People.

I ripped a start from Egypt and I was happy about that.
