On s serious note...what happened to Axell? Looks pretty banged up. Wish him a quick recovery either way. Kids fun to watch.

I get such crazy nostalgia this time of year, thinking back to sipping mountain dew and watching moto-x events, and all the other events too. Just ain't the same no more.

Broken radius isnt funny and I feel bad for the guy. Still it seems like the X-Games (he was in the winter snowbike race too) is the only thing this dude does besides instagram videos.

Got that right. Just like Warped Tour.

I still tune in to watch but it's just not like it use to be. Something is missing and I can't quite figure it out. Attitude?

What's missing are the stars that built it, because they are all retired and they didn't build the next generation of stars.

The original X Games stars like Tony Hawk, Dave Mirra, Pastrana, Deegan, Hart, Metz, etc have long since retired from competition, X Games tried to continue to use those names by including them in different disciplines including adding rally cars and trucks. I don't blame them for trying to keep the original stars around, because people had an emotional attachment to those guys, I was genuinely nervous with butterflies in my stomach when Travis did the first double back flip.

They didn't push the next wave of guys to the level they did the original guys. The current guys are going bigger, not because they are gnarlier, but because the sports have evolved. With that evolution the rawness and thrill has also gone away. Some of those original X Games guys were attempting stuff for the first time ever, and it made it thrilling. Now everyone has mastered the tricks into the foam pit and it's calculated.

And it's a bummer about Hodges.

Got a point there.

On a sidenote, wonder if his injury is sprocket bolt related?

The sprocket bolts are getting a little played, unless it's from peelout.

For me personally I have never been interested in FMX. Fast forward a few years from the days of Seth, Metzger, Deegan and etc and people were doing new tricks and there were quite a few high profile deaths in practice and during the competitions. I think that turned off a lot of people. Fast forward a few more years to now and yes the tricks are insane but they are definitely more calculated and engineered.

I watched Nitro Circus on the TV and thought it was pretty cool because it was more like a circus show. FMX as some kind of true sport is dead.

Saw Metzger and his crew in Disney Land back in 2003, he backflipped for us , first time we had seen it, cool as , now its all been done, to the point where even stuff we havent seen before is meh.. shame, but stuff moves on and Nitro Circus is that move.
