2018 TE-300

Christmas present to myself(with the wife's approval, of course ?).

Been a longtime KTM guy and was ready for a change of color..... but not a change of quality, perfromance or number of strokes. My last 3 KTM's have been 250 2-strokes and I've always wanted to try a 300. Because of holidays and work, I've only ridden it once since finishing assembly a few days ago, but damn, I'm going to like this thing. It's incredible how light it feels and also how it lacks the discernible vibration of a typical 2-stroke. Fit and finish is superb, as well. Going to be a fun bike. Can't wait to get out and take it on a proper ride.

Seems like 2 strokes are outselling 4 strokes 32:1 around here on the Vital. Congrats! Good looking bike!

Good eye, Ron! When the bike was delivered, I saw that box and the first thought I had was, "Hell, did the dealership throw in a free winch with the purchase of the bike"? Turns out, it contained the paperwork, tool kit and hand guards.

My local dealer has been wanting more 300s a few years in a row, but says he's at the limit of what KTM/Husky can supply him with. They thought about selling Beta's just to get more 300s to sell.

This brings up another example of the groupthink that apparently dominates Japan, INC. The Euro's are commanding premium prices for their bikes , specifically niche bikes like the 300, 350, etc, yet the japanese are happy to churn out the same stuff they always do and blow them out at greatly reduced prices when they have hundreds leftover.

If Suzuki was serious about getting back on the map they would build a 300 two stroke in moto and off road versions. They won't do it. Instead they will pour their money into a "new" 450 and then blow it out before the calendar year even starts..

I've been told by a dealer that KTM is purposefully stingy with the 300's. They tend to push 4-T's and will give him all he wants, but not so with the 300's.
