A few years ago I got back in the two stroke game for woods racing. I bought 16 250x and put 170 hard hours on it. Great bike. That bike inspired me to build an 02 steel frame with SSS suspension and 250x motor parts to have as a practice bike. I got rid of the 16 250x at the end of the season and picked up a 2018 250x tonight. I hope yamaha never changes these bikes. I've got tons of spares, a 3 year old could do the maintenance and they just flat out work. Supporting the two strokes one bike at a time. Let the tear down and build begin!

Looking good, I didn't like the blue rim's when the 18's first came out, that lasted for about an hour, lol. Nice bike, can't go wrong with the YZ and their suspenders....and Congrats !

There's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear.

HECK YEAH! Congratulations.

How was the steel frame vs. the aluminum frame?

Aluminum is more precise and steel is super smooth on the rough stuff. I like both of them for different reasons. I would like to get an 04 Steel Frame and see how it is compared to the 02.

There are a good bit of people on TT Yamaha two-stroke forum that say they prefer the steel in the woods.

I just picked up a new 17 yz250 myself. They are without a doubt one of my favorite bikes. My 450 will probably sit a lot this year. Photo

See, that's where I'm weird. In the woods I don't think I can tell a difference. The only place I notice the steel being better is on super fast hard pack moto tracks. Aluminum gets the nod in Sandy conditions.

Thanks again for sharing. I have an '07, but I don't see myself ever getting a steel framed one.
