Following his recent severe bout of Malaria, 10 time World MX champion Stefan Everts was re-admitted to a specialist hospital in Leuven and to try and stop the infection sadly had one of his toes amputated.
Best wishes to Stefan, hopefully this catches the infection, for a full recovery.

Miss Toe walks in. "Stefan Everts amputated?" "Yes I'm afraid so Miss Toe..." "God no!!!!..." "I guess its just us 2 little toes than, and our children of course, the little little toes."
Alright somebody stop me...
I truly hope it stops at that.

Then you have the Dengue fever, also a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.
Take precautions should you visit African countries. There are a whole bunch of nasty things that can get you. Consult with travel Doctors specializing in Africa before planning a trip.
Certain countries (North sub-Saharan) are worse than others so make sure you educate yourself before travel.
Lastly, the above is irrelevant if you travel to the wrong areas/countries and have your head removed with a machete.
