Suspension upgrades

There used to be a member who could do your suspension in 30 minutes or less or it's free.

I wonder what happened to him.

I am going to send mine off to Reynard modifications in a couple weeks. No coatings though. I will use some rain-x .

I think gear bags took more than 30 days, though.....

My recomendation is, save your money. Get the oil changed get the right spring for your weight and learn what the clickers do. People will tell you different but unless your going fast enough to use it whats the point? If you have everything adjusted for your weight then test out all the clickers to get it dialed in. Youll be richer and happy.

I know that Schmidt Performance http://www.schmidtperformance.com/default.asp is good and so is Triworks Engineering http://www.triworksengineering.com/. I've heard a lot of good things about them.

They are the best for the money in my opinion. I think I payed around $500 for front and rear revalve and springs.

I'm pretty sure that TerryK has a pretty good handle on whether or not he needs to get his suspension set up to suit him.......

He might have been around the sport a little while.

This inquiry was not for me, but a member of another forum. If it was for me I would go with Active Ride or Ride Concepts. As far as dialing stock suspension, it can work for you even if you are super fast, but there is nothing that compares to the plushness and stability of well set up boingers. It can also inspire confidence which makes for quicker lap times. I find it funny that people will spend $1000.00 on an exhaust system when the stocker is quieter and perfectly usable for 99% of the population, not to mention the fact that that same 99% can even use all the power a stock bike has, but these same people won't spend $500.00 for a suspension re-valve that will do far more to increase their speed that any motor mods will.[/quote:1lsvvpw7]

I totally agree with you on the motor thing.

I used to have an 05 crf250 and I weigh 200 pounds and I was bottoming out so bad. I sent off to factory connection and it was night and day. So plush, never bottomed. It was great. I used MB1 on my 450 that I got and it seems to be good also but factory connection did a great job on my crf250.

Totally agree with uptite.
I do suspension revalving, but no one but top experts and National Pros really need it. Bikes are really good stock. I first try to dial in a customers stock stuff first; on track and show them how. I'd rather see first if we can dial it in stock and if still complain, will do what they want. Prob is many can't describe what they want or the problem is.

Like I've mentioned before, I wrenched for a National rider. I sponsored him before he made Pro, he rode totally stock suspension until his first National SX/MX and then did mods. Even his practice bikes while riding Pro had stock innards, except springs. Kept good maintenance on 'em.

He got more out of a riding school and went from beginner to Pro in less than 2 yrs. Made SX main second SX ever.

Anyone that's got the dough to do it, go for it. It will feel better and give you a confidence boost.

But IMO, it's a riders riding style and time on the bike that helps more than any mods.

John is a good guy and knows his stuff. I have always loved JM's suspension and motors.

I can vouch for Active-Ride. He has done mine, and a couple of my buddies and everyone is extremely pleased with the result. My stuff I have right now is the best I have ever ridden.

He is building me a stage 3 KX250F right now. I can't wait to get it back!

ditto with making the best of your stock suspension first. keep clean oil in it, and make sure all of your suspension/handling related bearings are in tip top shape, make sure everything is tightened correctly and not binded up, you'd be surprised how much the little stuff can help a bike out, then if you still feel the need for more, go for the re-valve.
