*Edit: in my country almost all songs are licensed through the same holder which makes it quick and easy. I dunno exactly how it works in the US but can imagine it's not too different. Popular artists that are difficult and extremely pricy are Michael Jackson and The Beatles.

I've cleared songs from David Bowie, even Jon Lenon in just a few days, but also waited 2 months for a rap song to clear. If they are trying to get a legit band and legit song, it can vary. If you are clearing a song from a generic music site you can get it done the same day. I worked on a video project and we offered Metalica $15k and they didn't accept the offer because they didn't want their band to be assisated with the brand it was for.

I'll cross my fingers for Wes, it's a stressful road you go down when there's a special song you really want.
