I was hoping he could pull out a miraculous ride and finish on the podium, or even win one more.

Reminds me of some of the disappointments that Villopoto experienced.

If I have seen this once, I have seen it a 100 times.....people push these kids to get back out there way before they are healed up....pisses me off. Damit! Too early for Austin to be riding again....SUCKS!

Bit different. He has to have surgery. Season is lost anyways, has just delayed getting his knee fixed for a shot at the title. If he raced the last two outdoors after surgery or tried to race like Alessi in 09 when there was still 2/3 of the season left, then yeah...

I understand the frustration, and partly agree, but a LOT was riding (pardon the pun) on this race.

Knee is already fucked and needs to get fixed. Riding two more weekends won't make it worse. Pain was just too much to take so he pulled out.

It's not like he was back riding a month after surgery and risking blowing out his knee again.

Kid was trying to stay in a championship worth a life changing amount of money. I'll cut him some slack for running it in a couple turns. I'm sure he could have Osborne'd him if he wanted.

For over one million bucks I would have made the same choice to race as he did.

Did you not see Sexton try to take him out in the 2nd turn of the main or in the heat race? That's racing bitch

Absolutely can make it worse...without an ACL he can easily do much more damage..

Only one thing lost Forkner this championship; his immaturity. You can only crash your brains out so many times, you either back it down or get hurt. Then once your hurt do you race for points to stay in it or try to be a hero?
Once he works it out ( before too many serious injuries I hope) there'll be more titles waiting.

I cringed when (was it RC?) someone said Forkner told them they find the edge, then back it down or something like that...

I agree. I mean obviously he crushed those main events. But who else saw him going down more than once in qualifying/practice every weekend because he pushed the limits? was just a matter of time. Still such a bummer tho, hate this side of the sport ??

Yeah that's macho teenager talk. Like Mavetism said above, he's been regularly crashing hard in practice- qualifying, only sheer luck he wasn't hurt sooner. Looks like he's gonna have to work it the hard way.
Sexton on the other hand seems like he has his head screwed on right.

This. This right here. Forkners race IQ must be a 2 because that was some of the dumbest shit l've ever seen from someone attempting to back into a championship.

He rode way to aggressively and he personally eliminated himself from any chance at a championship because what? He was going to prove what by riding like that?

He should have taken what he could get and then more therapy for a week and then lay it all out next week.

I did not see anyone try to take anyone out. I saw two guys racing for a Championship.

$1,000,000 for a regional SX championship?

It was the "Sex....Breakfast of Champions" butt patch that was his undoing.
Wonder if they serve it for breakfast in hospital?

I’d say that’s a bit exaggerated....

I agree, but could you argue a champion will sign a bigger contract in the future?

Kawi bonus for the title is 500k. Add in bonuses from the other sponsors and it's a very good payday.

Could be wrong guess, but jlaw only won a regional championship and supposedly won at least that amount with bonuses and contingency?

And you should be, Pops!! I’ve been pumped watching him all season... he has not one thing to be ashamed of. I just wish he hadn’t gotten hurt. He’s definitely got time to accomplish a lot in his career.
