Thunder valley night race

Hey folks. Just a question about the few night races they had at thunder valley. I scrolled across 2009 250 Moto 2 and that was some absolutely amazing racing.

Why did they stop the night races? It looked bitchin. I’ve always wondered why we don’t have night race on the current schedule. MXGP did it (although debatably successful) for a few seasons.

It was too bitchin. They had to de-bitchin-ify it. Half of Washouhal is basically a night race with all the shadows. They should do it at Southwick... really separate the women from the ladies.

Riders complained about the shadows and said it wasn't lit well enough and other parts of the track the lights blinded them. There is a lot of track to try to light up and it was really only the second motos that was after the sun went down. I would much rather race at night and watch a race at night.

Probably cost. It wasn't cheap to rent the Musco lighting trucks. They were hoping for larger crowds with a night event, I don't know if they got that.

I went in 2008. It was awesome. Stew dominated the 450 class. Parking in a dark field trying to find my rental car was interesting.

Wow I had no idea this ever happened. It’s pretty rad but I would be so sketched out to ride a track that rough at night with all the shadows.

I may be wrong but I believe they wouldn't rip it very deep and would keep it more hard pack so it didn't get too rough, because it would obviously be real sketchy.
