Was I the only one wondering if his bike was gonna make the whole main with it smoking 5min in? If he’s getting the clutch that hot then why doesn’t kawi put the outdoor oil cooler on it. As a Kawasaki fan, it’s not a good look!

I was wondering the same thing. First time I thought I saw smoke, it appeared to be a smudge on a camera lens, then a little later I could have swore I saw smoke a couple more times. Let’s just say the term “mechanical dnf” had popped into my mind at one point.

I only saw smoke from the exhaust. I chalked that up to cooler evening temps. I never saw smoke from the gearbox.

It smokes because of how hard he is on the clutch

Now that I think about it, when I thought I saw smoke, it was the right hand side of the engine. Quite possible he was heating up just a tad and the cooling system spit a little coolant into the exhaust.

Definitely breather hose. I noticed it on a picture from last weekend too. Doesn't seem to matter.

I think most bikes would shudder at the speed he was going. That’s one of the more impressive rides I’ve ever seen. All the contenders started ahead of him and he flew through the pack, gaining nearly two seconds per lap, and passed everyone 8 minutes into the race after starting 15th. Truly incredible what he can do when he’s on.

Maybe everyone’s bike should smoke like Eli’s. 😬

Hasn't his bike smoked like this for a few years? Seems to always make it. I'll trust the experts at Kawi on this one.

I just thought they would be a little more pro active about it. There was quite a bit of smoke came out of the vent at the podium until he shut it off I thought. The only guy that can push the limits of a factory engine and still want more since RC.

It does it every weekend, I've seen it way worse evidently it's not a problem, RC made a big deal out of last season but I guess it's the new normal nobody says a thing about it now

I noticed it in certain angles on multiple bikes last week at St. Louis when they did the two doubles across the start lane.

I have noticed the same on the bikes since the Des Nations in 2018.

Most of what you were seeing wasn’t smoke, there was some serious dust because his wheel was spinning

Relax, that's just what happens in beast mode.
Literally.. Everytime he won last season, his bike was smoking.

Yep. From about the midpoint of the race, you could smell it pretty strongly trackside, and yeah, there was some smoke from the breather. Talking with Eli afterwards, he said that with the whoop sections, corner, and then the dragonback before the finish line, there was a lot of clutch use in that area.

Since going to a hydraulic clutch it seems to be the new normal for his bikes. I'm thinking this was his main issue on the bike last year and why at some rounds he lost speed at the end of the race, he basically burned up a clutch in a 20 minute main. When your clutch is auto adjusting you don't know it's gone until it's too late.

Makes you wonder how many clutches he goes through during the week?

Was Adams bike smoking?

Would he have any sense of how much life is left before it starts to slip or gives out?

I feel like this has been a thing since he's been on the 19 (like @mb60 said at the MXON.) It seems like it comes out of the breather and prob just the clutch heating up. Some races it seems worse than others. I guess it is no big deal but when I see it, my mind starts thinking if the bike is going to hold up lol.

I'm not sure but that was from practice/qualifying.
