Does anyone know when Yamaha is coming out with a 2019 YZ 65 or are they waiting until they release the 2020 models?

They aren’t releasing a 65 until 2021

What am I missing here? The YZ65 was a late 2018 release I can’t see them making any changes till at least 2021.

Bike was released in 18. Not sure what your meaning.

Model year is confusing. I think the 18/19 are the same. I know they labelled the J as 2018 so that way it met Loretta Lynn's homoligation

Thanks dude. Went a little far with the rivets but wanted to make sure it wouldn’t flop around.

Show me a title that says 2019. My dealer told me the 18' being released so late is basically technically the 19'.

YZ65 is a great little bike. Just picked one up for my youngest. My older son had the KX65 and this is much, much better bike. Easy competes with the KTM's, actually has more power and better suspension stock then the STM or Husky. A dealer in San Diego was letting them go for $3,449, I couldn't say no....

How heavy is your kid? We just go rid of ours (going new2019 YZ85) and what an amazing little bike it is.My boy was 72lbs about and i can tell ya now the rear shock will need new spring (lighter) and total revalve as they are sprung and valves way to hard. Watch some of the kids and the rear shock hardly moves. Once done properly it’s a beast and you will be pumped on the purchase even more

Yep, you are right. My son is around 75lbs, and I know we need a new rear spring and revalve. It comes stock for a kid I would guess around 85-90lbs, but I got it pretty close. Forks are dialed. I need to get him used to the clutch first! Revalve down the road. The motor in this thing is so damn good, power valve makes are huge difference.

I’ve heard the 65 actually shares the same bottom end as the YZ85. And the new 85 has great bottom end power, Kris Keefer just posted his 85 shootout and the YZ85 had more bottom end power than the KTM/Husky 85.

I think you are confusing these bikes with a KTM

Nothing broke on ours. Only thing I can honestly pick on is frame paint quality its very thin and wears easily.
65 motor shares same bottom end as 85 i think maybe 1 clutch plate extra in 85.
GYTR parts like case covers and levers are well made and very durable worth the extra $$

Haven’t seen any 19’s in the 65. Like posted above, it was a “late” 18 release, so the 18 IS basically the 19. We’ve got about 10 hours on my boys so far, and it seems a little over spring for his 60lb frame, other than that not one complaint!

Way over sprung. We went to a softer spring and totally changed the valving as well. Totally different bike.

Yeah. Paint flakes at the stress points. I plan to put a little more time on ours. We have around 20 hours right now. I’ll wait for it to stretch a little more then powder coat it. Aside from that it’s an awesome bike. You are correct on the bottom end with one less plate. 85cc cylinder will be a nice addition eventually.
