Motocross people will tell you it’s a “ten-hour drive”, even when you look at the map and see it’s about 735 miles away, but, whatevs, I only put 1.5 laps in the spectacular main track, because I’m ancient, it had rained much the night before and, that track had a bunch of sloppy places and well, I suck at riding, so, there’s that. Bad ass circuit for sure. There’s several other tracks, too, including a Vet track, a peewee course, a Vet layout and a Pitbike track. Maybe a couple sand tracks that are down in the woods too, I never saw..... Anyway, 270 acres, 7 miles of trails, several RV hookups. I paid $40 to ride, because $30 plus a $10 MM TShirt I had to have. New facility owner Keith- has only owned the place 5 weeks. Originally built by Mark Barnett and Johnny Borders, I’m told. I haven’t yet figured out a well-conceived overall grading system, but the big main track would have to max out, its got everything and all the riders that were there this weekend ( including 30+ from
Ohio!!!) seemed to dig it. Let’s look at some pics, I’ll take your stupid questions later....

It's on my bucket list for sure!
First time I heard of it I lived 10 hours north of MM and last year I lived 10 hours south of it.
Now I'm back at 10 hours north of MM again and with the temperatures I've had this week I'm due to head south to MM.

Your photo's from Oak Ridge made me want to go there so in Oct last year I went for an open practice and that track was insane!

Thanks for the track report!

My first couple times there, we shared the track with Barnett.. Monster has never let us down in all the years we've went down during the winter.

On the long way home, we decided to stop in at Lanes Motor Museum in Nashville, to see a simply amazing array of wheeled beauty - and oddities. I bought in the extra $ six buckeroos for the secret basement VIP tour, too, because I’m a fancy boy..... 558 “ vehicles” total, including motorcycles, bicycles and ummm, contraptions....

A few buddies and I lived in one of the sheds by the concession stand here. It was an amazing 5? Months. Only problem was it almost ruined riding elsewhere for me

We always arrive in middle of the night and often we would here music and laughter coming from the shed. I always wondered if people lived in there lol.
I haven’t made it down in two years and I miss that place. All time favorite!!

Couple of my favorites.

The first time I went down there, I saw some guy wad it up on that up hill triple, and ever since then, I would psych myself out and never hit it worried that I would get banged up and have to drive 16 hours home. I’ve hit bigger sketchier jumps down there all day but that one for some reason always made me nervous.

We drove 15 hours to ride there in the sleet and rain, still worth it. They let us ride for free since the weather was so crappy. Went again the next year to perfect conditions. One of the best tracks I’ve ever been to.

May be heading there this weekend! We went to Mill Creek last weekend another great track in Alabama. It's about 4 1/2 hours from here in TN to MM and 3 1/2 to Mill Creek.

Monster Mountain is Heaven.. Haven't been there in a few years, but looks like the new owners are carrying on the passion. That dirt is magnetic. If you're actively riding dirt bikes, and haven't ridden this place, make the time and GO.. Freaking spectacular.

MM is a fun track but I think Cycle Ranch is better.

Probably the most fun I have EVER had on a dirt bike was at Monster Mountain. The dirt is something I will never forget. I need to get back!

Alabama has some great tracks. I don't know if it's still there or not, but last time we were there, we followed some trucks with bikes in the back to a very nice sand track in Shorter (short drive south of 85 on 229/30). We didn't get to ride, as it was our last day, but it looked like the perfect option if you're down there, and it rains.
