I have tried the 4cs forks on one of the EU enduro models. The 300 Exc EU. It may not even be relevant, since enduro is different. I didnt get the chance to really hammer them, but with the few rounds I got, I thought they were a bit plusher and smoother.

But I like the aer more than the 4cs.

Cant really say anything on the cone valves. Never tried them.

I know someone who had them on his 2016 Husky that are not out yet and he is still dialing them in. He said they worked great but rode a little high in the stroke. Watched him on the track and saw what he was talking about but they still turned great with them compressing when they needed to. They look good and I know by this weekend he will have them all dialed in.

Is that the mid base plate shim for a cone valve?

Looks like a drive shaft from a merry go round.
Round...did you say ROUND? Like a record?

Nah, it's that little thing you put in the middle of a record with a big hole so you can play it on a record player that plays the ones with the small hole

Hey guys, anyone from Europe try the new WP airforks? Has anyone from US tried to get them or heard cost? I saw on Facebook where Action Motorsports KTM in Decatur Texas has been getting them.

dem air forks are something special. not sure why KTM didn't get the to the states. I feel sorry for them paying so much for a bike with forks that aren't so special.

Tried out my 250sxf -16 yesterday.
The air fork worked a whole lot better than the -15 (which I had re-valved).

At first it felt a bit awkward riding the bike, didn´t feel like a KTM (have been riding 4 stroke KTM 250 since -06).
But later in the evening I got more comfortable and it´s got a bit more bottom then the old ones. For sure one of the best KTM´s so far.

Just need to work a bit on the setup of the shock. Will probably need a softer spring, my sag was 45 mm static and 110mm race sag. Will probably do some more riding first though.

This whole 4cs in 16/air fork in 17 issue is really bumming me out. Why would they release a brand new bike and not add the air forks in the U.S.? I have a 16 on order but I don't want to spend 2700 on forks after buying the bike if a "superior" fork is coming out next summer. The Kawi is looking better and better. Such a bummer because I really want the KTM but I can't buy a bike knowing that it's major flaw is addressed next year and will save me $2700.
I'm guessing the reason is when a product gets produced a quantity is generated to lower cost. Doubt their just gonna eat the fork / parts on the shelf, so Europe gets the cream, and we get to eat the old fork design. Makes sense. I'm new to the thread, but have the cure. I've been riding a 2015 KTM sxf since June of last year. Been all around with trying to tune out the inherent problems in the 4CS fork, just feel the fork has an impasse built in. Fix one challenge and the others get worse. I have been on the top tuners suspension at a local track that gets pretty rough. Wont mention any names, but they all claim they have the cure. WRONG! Every version I've rode still has the 4CS feel, if not worse. I feel the best 4CS fork is very close to it's stock form, if not just keeping it stock. However, that's not saying much because in my opinion the 4CS cartridge is junk. The cure is to drop in KYB cartridges. This is typically done for under $1200, but you know exactly where you end up, and the BEST money you can spend. The WP tubes with KYB sss cartridges is without a doubt the best fork I've been on, and absolutely no comparison to the best 4CS I've road. My buddy road the 16 Kawi, and was impressed in it's sock form. However, he said he would take my bike over the Kawi in a second. I never knew how good my bike was until the KYB conversion, everything works better, and totally confidence inspiring feel.. Don't be scared of the 16, I'm getting one. Just know you throw the 4CS Cartridges in the garbage, drop in KYB carts and have the best production bike out. What I'm reading about the AER, I don't want it. Testing is proving it has flaws, so it sounds like you would have to throw money at that fork as well.

I would imagine the 16 factory editon(s) will have air forks. I've heard they won't do the 250 though...

AER 48 Now Available From WP in US

Today is the official launch day for the new WP 48mm air fork, know as AER, in America. These are a direct OEM replacement for late model KTM and Husqvarana models. For a cool two grand you can own the latest fork innovation. I am told they are in stock and ready for delivery from any of the authorized WP distributors in the US.

Imagine if KTM would be smart enough to spec the cone valve stock. Really, how much more could it cost? It's basically the same parts.

They waited for 17 to put different forks on the bikes (whether it is air or cone) so people who bought a 16 will have a reason to buy a 17. Then they cut back the numbers this year to keep demand high. The 4CS forks is why I bought a Kawasaki.

Yea, everyone has good reason to search out another manufacturer because of the 4CS, but after riding all the 15's and 16's, I'm really glad I stuck it out with the KTM and did the KYB cartridge conversion. If you're like me and don't like air forks your choices are limited. I like my KYBsss carts better then the cone valves, but it's apples and oranges at that point.

I am a gringo who lives in Colombia and was at a 2016 KTM demo day last weekend. Currently I ride a 2012 SX 250 with about 15 hours on it.

They only had 250 and 350 SXF available to ride, and I spent probably an hour on the 350. I have to say that the new fork is pretty impressive. The track we rode was rough, but there weren't any high speed sections. There were some rather large breaking bumps that provided a good test.

I found the fork to work quite well in the breaking bumps, and I was quite interested to test this fork, so was deliberately slamming into the bumps. The fork did a great job of soaking this up and I didn't find any deflection. The fork also seemed to settle into corners pretty well and we did have some pretty deep ruts. I didn't find the front end trying to jump out of the ruts. In the flat corners the bike was also very predictable and didn't knife or push.

There were a couple of times that I was able to bottom the fork on hard landings. However this was far less harsh than what my current SX 250 does in the same situation.

I rode YZ 250's for years and of course the KYB's on those bikes are considered to be the best. In my humble opinion this new fork felt almost as good, aside from the couple incidents of bottoming out. I don't know how many hours were on the forks and I didn't know where the clickers were at, nor did I get to adjust them. So I don't know if I would have been able to tune the bottoming out of the fork. Until now I have been skeptical about air forks, but would definitely by one of the new Katooms with them.

For reference, I am 40 years old and am a strong B rider but don't ride as hard as I used to.

I have 2 friends who have 2016 KTMs, one rides the 125 and the other rides the 250f and they are very happy with the AER 48 forks. I'v heard only good things about them. I will get my FE 450 mid January.
