Webb’s riding style

I know a lot of you are familiar with Cooper and have watched him on the 250s but this is my first time seeing him. Watching his riding style he really reminded me a bit of Jeff Ward. He seems very efficient on the bike not a lot of extra movement, seemed to always be square- straight in line when hitting the jumps..not sure of his height but looked about Wards height off the seat when standing. Any other older timers see that too or was that race a bit out of the norm for him

Yes I agree. I have always liked Coops style. He spent allot of time with Gary Bailey as a kid and it shows. I think you might be seeing the Jeff Ward style because they are close in size.

Yep he's a pretty technical rider. Watching him in mud/sand etc you can see him move the bike around a lot.

Honestly, watching Webb at A2 I couldn't help but be reminded of 2011 Ryan Villopoto. Not in terms of riding style, but in terms of how he attacked the track. Coming into 2011 RV had been through his first boot camp with Aldon and instantly saw results (won A1). Thus validating the hard work and in my opinion catapulting him to his next six titles over that four year span.

Now I'm not a huge Webb fan, but I couldn't help but be impressed with how he's ridden at the two Anaheim events. Anaheim one he comes out and charges from pretty much dead last to a solid fifth. He was clearly in great shape to be able to charge through the 450 pack like that in the mud at what is going to be (through attrition) the most stacked race of the season. You bet that gave him confidence in what he was doing with Aldon, and propelled him to this win after a lack-luster Glendale. I think a confident Cooper Webb is a scary Cooper Webb, and a I think a definite threat to the championship, and that pumps me up for the rest of this SX season. Honestly this is the most excited i've been for SX in years.

Very, very efficient on the bike. It's cool to watch. I always think if Bailey was a pro today, that would be the evolution of his style.

A short guy will usually look more efficient as his movements are less.

I think they were talking about height, not length.

It's funny to think that Webb rode KTM back in the 85cc days- this brand is not something new for him.

True. At another level, Michael Lindsay is a good example.

I get the impression, that back on the 250 he did whatever the hell he wanted with that bike, and now he looks more like a passenger.
