To start off i'm a big fan of his new podcasts and love the history ones due to only being 22 years old so i havent heard much before about the start of moto and supercross. I was listening to his latest podcast about how the nationals were creater and towards the end he mentioned a certain promoter who is now spending life in prison for a double murder? Anyone have any other information i found that very interesting but he didnt really talk about it much.

Mike Goodwin was the promoter, and he was convicted of killing Mickey Thompson (yes, same Mickey Thompson as the tire brand / motorsports legend) http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-conviction-upheld-mickey-th…

and for the record, yes, Weege's new podcast is awesome... I'm especially loving these historical ones. I've already listed to the one from yesterday twice. Probably listened to the AMA/FIM/Jam Sports/Clear Channel one 5 times

His intro song is pretty epic. I enjoyed The Bobby Hewitt one quite a bit, now we know who cursed ando’s spokes in Salt Lake.

Weege’s podcast is fantastic overall. This most recent one was one of my favorite podcasts ever as I love history and DC can tell a good story. Weege needs to get his audio figured out though. His levels were way off in this one and in the AMA/JAM/FIM one you can hear him typing at times.

I really like how Weege sets the stage before the interview and then recaps at the end. Of course his podcast song is gold as well.

Thanks for the explanation thats a pretty shitty thing to do.. but yeah i cant get enough. I was never really into the history much but the insight from him and DC is amazing. I do landscaping so i love listening to podcasts throughout the day and find myself stopping to rewind parts to understand it better

Once somebody has been convicted, I think you can drop the "allegedly" label.

Weege has become the voice, and face, of the outdoors, and the go to guy for all questions about professional "dirt biking". He could def use some help in the technical side of audio production no doubt.

Yeah pretty crass even for here.

POS is a convicted murderer. He's rotting in jail. I think okay to drop the "allegedly" part now.

This is why I pray I’m never on trial. Seems most everyone is convinced you can’t be falsely arrested, prosecuted or convicted, despite convictions continually being overturned due to new evidence , new tech, corruption, admittance of coercion, etc.

Alleged is the perfect term in an admittedly circumstantial case.

Trevor91, thanks for listening, and if you or anyone else want to do a deep-dive on the Mike Goodwin/Mickey Thompson saga, this story from LA Weekly is pretty detailed and a great read:

Some day we're going to drill down on it even more, but it's an incredibly complex and also fascinating case/mystery, depending on where you stand...

Looking forward to more from DC and racerX when the time is right. I've read a considerable amount on MT doing research years ago. Got sidetracked with the actual case. Lot info out there to weave through. Interesting. It's easy to choose sides and make your decision. Unfortunate outcome regardless. MT was a fascinating guy far ahead of his time.
