Hoosier tires. Full titanium exhaust. Aluminum or ti pegs. You can get all you m6 non weigh bearing bolts in Ti from eBay or alibaba.

Light weight tires and these mountain bike tubes will probably affect handling the most.

Ti motor mounts

Replacing any steel with Titanium.

Not cheap, but effective, largely without downsides (For eg: Potentially light weight tires are inferior to other options. Etc)

As mentioned - exhaust.
Axles are “unsprung” so double benefit.
Suspension pivots and foot pegs have potential due the larger mass.
M8 size bolts - Brake calipers/Triple clamps. (Unsprung/Moves with steering - so makes more “difference”)
Ti rear spring is a useful saving.

Lightweight seat foam saves weight, and it’s from high on the bike.

Free mods? I’ve heard of teams shaving every unnecessary ridge, seam, and casting line before in order to cut minuscule amounts.

You could remove and drill the head of your OEM bolts I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

How are lightweight tires "inferior" to other options?

Good stuff and theory, thanks! My 06 had a Ti spring but haven't seen one since. Who sells them?

“Potentially” inferior.

Maybe the grip doesn’t feel as good. Maybe less durable. Maybe light weight and superior in every way.
The Tubes are perhaps a better example. GENERALLY lighter tubes feel better to ride with, but heavier tubes are more durable.

The point I was making was there “may” be a compromise with some components. (EG tires/tubes) but the only compromise between a steel and Ti Exhaust is dollars.

Some Pro riders can apparently feel the difference (Flex?) between steel and Ti axles and/or swingarm pivots. Utilising Steel for preference, despite the weight penalty.

Ti exhaust and axles would be my first thought. Ti spring maybe?

(sorry, shameless plug)

We have one set of our Gen1 Yamaha triple clamps left, and those will save you 351 g (0.77 lbs) vs. stock. They're on our closeout page here for $500 with bar mounts:
https://luxonmx.com/product-closeouts.html

Or our new Gen2 Yamaha triple clamps will be available on our website in the next couple of days. They save 438 g (0.97 lbs) vs. stock, and you'll get our latest design with a split lower clamp ($879.90 with bar mounts):

IMO the cost of the trimming weight on a modern race bike is a waste of good money.

Got any idea how much it costs to cut a pound using Ti ??

I brought up the same thing about riders adding random weight in another thread and got roasted by the Vital brain trust.

Teams spend and test and tweak infinitely to have as light of bikes as possible, riders instantly strap the biggest heart rate watch on the market to the handlebars 🤣

I would honestly start with an aluminum rear axle nut and washer like the ktms come with. They are super light compared to the steel ones Japanese bikes come with. light weight tubes, rim locks and tires are the best bang for the buck though.

We do not have the stock radiator hoses to compare weight to but typically a silicone radiator hoses weigh less than stock rubber hoses.

Our YZF Y hose kit eliminates the stock steel Y fitting with a smaller aluminum fitting and 1 clamp comparing our Y kit to stock shaped hoses with the steel fitting the Y kit weighs 4 ounces less

Weight effects every aspect of the bike.
Makes the power more effective, make the brakes more effective, makes it handle better, and makes the suspension work better.
