I would have to say mine was an old somewhat private track in South Carolina. Back in the early 200s. It was just behind some guys house. I believe he raced somewhat professionally. You just put a couple bucks in a locked box and then did your thing. Was very rarely groomed. The water run off on the track was really bad. Seemed like someone got hurt pretty bad every time I was there. Track is long gone now.
When we got there the grass had pretty much overgrown the track and it had only been mowed in a couple of places.
We start doing laps and next thing my brother goes flying back to the pits, my dad asked him what was wrong and he says "there is a massive red bellied black snake on the track and it struck at me. They aren't the most venomous snake we have but if you get bitten you're in trouble.
A few weeks later they hold the big event there. Around 300-400 bikes show up. About half way through the day people are reporting bits of glass, concrete and white goods like freezers and ovens appearing in the track. Turns out the track had been built on an old rubbish tip and had never hosted that many bikes which chewed through the top soil and down to the rubbish

People struggled with getting up on some of the hills. It was just a matter of survival.
Overpelt, The Netherlands: This was a deep sand track that was on waste ground. It was never graded. Imagine Lommel after a GP and then multiply that. The entire track was whoops you could hide a bike in.
Apex, Worcester, UK: When this place first opened (I was the first rider to ever set wheels on that place) it was a piece of waste ground where they had dumped dirt from the construction of the adjacent freeway. There were lumps of concrete sticking out of the ground and the occasional twisted metal road sign.
NEC Hardcross: An arenacross track built just on the stadium floor. No dirt (we used slick tyres) and wooden ramp jumps. The tabletop was a truck trailer with ramps at either end.
The track was in the infield of a dirt stock car track. This area of Vt has a very slick clay. The problem is they made jumps by gouging into the ground thee feet deep from both sides to make a jump in the middle. The gouges never dried completely and ditched up. So you would hop into the gouge and if you werent perfect, the slippery clay would shoot you sideways. And if you did make it up the up ramp, you got to land is slick ruts on the other side.
Five of us went that day. I crashed the least at four times per moto. A buddy crashed seven times in one moto.
There's a place on cedar creek lake near underground mx where you put $5 in a box and ride. people can't ever figure out which direction the track goes...
Abbott Mx in Nebraska comes to mind as far as poorly built jumps/landings.
Pit Row
Got banned by the operator for bitching about the prep online. I was not the only one that said it sucked that day.

Lighting was terrible and it was dusty as hell.
Like riding half the track with your eyes closed.
The other problem was when a bunch of folks (usually local racers) would all agree on a “track” (linking a bunch of berms together, etc) only to have some moron go the opposite way.
Post a reply to: What is the most sketchy track you have ever ridden?
