Over the last 25years what was the most stacked SX/MX Season that on any given day anyone could win! The battles between RC ,JS7,CR were some of the best years in SX/MX! Johnson and Hannah years come to mind as well as Bradshaw and Stanton!

Every year they hype up the start of the season saying it's the most stacked field, lol bullshit it's usually maybe 3riders that dominate!

If more people could win on a given day does that mean its more 'stacked' with talent? Surely its the opposite

2011? When we got 5 or 6 different winners in the first 5 or 6 races

Every year starts stacked with talented riders and teams. Sadly injuries thins out the field.

Some riders will always find a mental edge over the competition and become "the guys to beat" during a season. I enjoy the recent parity and knowing that RC and JS7 can't come back to podium from dead last in 10 laps.
Most stacked field? I think the last few years are highly under appreciated in that regard

1990?..... Stanton, Bayle, Bradshaw, Matiasevich, kiedrowski, Jeff ward, rick Johnson, Larry ward, larocco, Johnny o’mara, guy cooper, dubach, tichenor. Not a bad list of factory riders at the starting gate for almost every main. Unlike 2000 and on when each factory team only had one or maybe at most two riders on a team and majority of the field were privateers. I truly believe the field was way deeper and actually “stacked” back then.

The season I looked most forward to since I've been watching (started in 99, I'm only 28 give me a break) was the 2005 season. Reed the previous champ, Carmichael coming from a year off SX, and Bubba coming up to the 250 class. Throw in Windham as a spoiler. That year delivered regardless of what the final points looked like. Even after Bubba got hurt and made his return.

Team Honda alone had 4 riders that could have won any night. Instead of 4 riders total in the field. All SX seasons are great. But depth in the field hasn’t existed in decades

There are some good examples in this RacerX article. http://racerxonline.com/2013/04/24/the-list-great-sx-seasons

8 different SX winners in 1985 is good, but one of my favorites was '90. A lot of new riders to the class making an impact with such contrasting riding styles. Cooper, JMB, Bradshaw, Stanton, Ward(Jeff and Larry), Matiasevich, O'Mara, Johnson...list goes on and on. Exciting racing.

No doubt that the early 80's to early 90's were some of the glory yrs. for SX / MX. I haven't seen that close of racing since.

I think '99... McGrath, LaRocco, Emig, Windham, Tortelli, Lusk, Pichon, Button, Ward, Albertyn, Dowd, Lamson, Huffman, Ferry, Reynard, Sellards, Roncada, Vuillemin,... I believe Carmichael race the SX in 250cc back then.

1990 was an awesome season but I personally believe 1983 was the best SX season ever.

Hannah, Bailey, Barnett, Glover, Bell, O’Mara, Johnson, Lechien, Howerton, Ward, Magoo, Shultz, Reid, Myerscough, etc.

1983 was awesome! Total all out take no prisoner racing to the end. And for anyone who thinks 4 guys makes a stacked field. I highly suggest reading this book. You’ll definitely understand what a stacked field was, as it covers everything from the very beginning up to 2004. After that year is was just a 4 man race most every season. 1982-1992 was a decade of some of the best racing.

That year had the best hype pf all time. Don't forget McGrath and Travis coming back also.

If your old enough to remember, the early to mid 80's had many winners and barn burner races. People forget. And the young ones will think that 2011 was the best. But really, those years in the 80's had many winners every year. Nobody one 12 races a year back then-the talent was really deep!

That was the year RC got points taken away for illegal fuel. So he cried until the AMA gave them back.
