The struggle is real.

I still don't understand how his pants bothered him more than his shoulder though.

I gotta say it in Eli's defense: Wouldn't THAT piss you off, or what? In the lead...adrenaline pumping, heart rate to the max...and your damn pants come undone and unzipped!!! WTF?

Cause he's Eli Tomac, the most interesting man in sports. "I don't always pull out of a race for the championship, but when I do....its to fix my pants."

It was just the belt latch wasn't it. Not that it still doesn't drive you nuts. I had a pair of Fox 360's and the latch started going.....but the zipper normally stayed up. However I never did pull over, granted I wasn't on an SX track.....but when I'm in race mode......unless my damn motor blows.....I ain't pulling off. Theres a million reasons as to why as it'll be debated for probably months/years down the road.....esp if he loses the championship like last year. But we can all admit the whole thing was weird.

I think timed zipping the pants in mx gloves and helmet will be a part of every pre-SX-season bootcamp from now on.

I don't believe it was the reason why Eli pulled off. He was way too shaky while fighting with those pants.

Tomac does his best work when he is bunching up the field. I was watching him spin out in practice, might need to fine tune that set up. I hope the shoulder is ok!

Why is everyone blaming his pants? He took a digger and that broke the buckle, or did I miss something and his pants caused him to crash?

At that point I would have zipped it as well...I'd imagine his shoulder wasn't feeling too good right in that moment either.

He might have gone on to finish the race even with the shoulder contusion if his pants hadn't come loose.

Why did nobody taped his pants tight with duck tape, and kicked him back on the track?

It appears that Eli is having a hard time "getting it in"

After the crash?

I don't think some of you realize how important it is to have the pants buckled/fitted correctly while riding. You may not realize it but your pants provide a lot of grip and help keep you on the bike.

I have an old pair of riding pants that I decided to wear one day and I had previously crashed while wearing them. It's the type of pants with velcro waist straps on both sides to tighten up the waist. Well the velcro was compromised in that prior crash and when I tried wearing them this time, the velcro came undone and left the pants really loose at the waist. I found myself sliding off the seat way more and it was just very unsettling/uncomfortable.

Eli's pants were both unbuckled and unzipped, which means they were sliding around on him. Also, there is a potential for the pants to slide down on the legs and actually lock up the legs somewhat.

I've had it happen once although a crash didn't cause the failure however I know it's impossible to ride with your pants coming off...

I think he did ok to get shit organized, it's tough to look down and see past your chin guard and with goggles on you're adjusting with no vision, the race is happening, the lead is gone, maybe injured, bike is tweaked, a really difficult position to be in.

In hind site it may have been best to stand up, get the shit zipped and buckled and then run down as many as possible and salvage some points.

Phoenix should be interesting...

Just say, Eli keeps on going, shoulder in some pain, pants moving around, not helping gripping the seat and he goes down hard (on a AMA Supercross track) and tears himself up really bad. Than all you ass wipes will bitch about why didn’t he pull off and save himself for the remaining rounds Cool

Point at the problem (To give the crew a heads up), suffer another lap, then pull in for quickie... remedy.

With how cheap those plastic zippers are on gear anymore I've had them just split open on me while riding. Oh wait I'm talking logic and this is vital.
