I normally trail ride and ride back yard mx tracks with hardly any decent jumps but am getting into mx next year and riding MX this weekend. I'm a uni student so things are tight, how ever, through the shop I work at, I can get a set of POD K8's for $400 aud. There is no real urgency to getting them but I would hate to snap a knee on Sunday and as a result lose my job, pay for surgery etc.
I mostly ride sand. I dunno if that helps or not.
If you use them, tell me. If you don't, tell me. I wanna know what you reckon before I spend valuable money on them.

I think a large part of it isn't even money. I would hate to snap a knee at 18 and never be able to run properly again
The Shop
I've seen more femur breaks with them than knee breaks without them
I wear Mobius X8's
I cannot ride without knee braces. It is like riding without a helmet.
I am 58 and in a few months, after a life time of skiing, Jet Skiing, Running, MX and off Road riding, road biking ands mountain biking am scheduled for two new knees. I wish I had used braces much earlier in life to help these puppies cope with the abuse I threw at them. Would it have helped??? I have no idea or proof that it would, but I would have felt that I did my best to protect my knees.
Using asterisk ultra cell 2.0 now.
during snowmobile season, i wear Acerbis X-Strong Knee Guards. i absolutely love them. if i didn't already wear my Asterisk for moto, i would definitely wear these knee guards and feel great about the switch. highly recommended.
Pit Row
I've never used braces before, so I can't compare...but of all the knee guards I've used over the years, these are BY FAR the best.
Think about this , the braces hold tight above and below the knee so tight that all the force goes internal and twists so much that it results in the injuries.
WIthout a knee brace the leg and knee can react normally to a twisting or weird bend.
Now with that said who really knows, I mean back when I raced hardly anyone wore knee braces because they did not really exist and there did not seem to be very many knee injuries.
I have never wore them and been in and out of racing for 35 years and never had a knee injury. I have had plenty of crashes and broke bones so not like I have not been a Sally.
