Because they quit moto.....the thing that built them can’t even be found in their stores or marketing.

I just walked through Oakley's development lab yesterday...the amount of work they're putting into moto goggles is still pretty deep. They just launched a new moto goggle and are working on another three or so right now...

Yeah, I wish moto guys were more prevalent in their global marketing these days but I'll stamp this one by saying they still invest more money and time into their goggle development than any other goggle brand in our industry.

The one brand I've always found to be more style than substance. That and I never could afford any of their products...

Definitely I see that but man I don’t see surfing over moto.
I grew up surfing New Smyrna, Bethune, Cocoa. Surfing has to be a smaller sport than moto.

They could do a lot of return marketing for moto!

I guess I missed the memo that said Oakley quit moto. Anyhoo, they're the best googles I've ever owned. I'll have to make the pair I have last as long as possible.

Yah, and here I am still just wanting plain old 30 dollar Pro Frames with a half mask.

I hate most new goggles. They either fit like shit, don't fit in the helmet, or cost too much. Why people pay the money they do for these 3 dollar Chinese piles is beyond me.
They don't fit in the helmet, so dirt gets in. They are garbage. 2017 and goggles now are no better or worse than 1985!

I don't want or need goggles the size of a face shield, or magnets to hold a lens because the snowflakes of the world can't put a lens in! I don't need fancy lens either. I need clear, smoked, and amber/persimmon/ whatever they call it.. And a dual pane version of each. That's it. I don't even need the ones with the holes.

Simple, cheap, and it works.

Does X Brand make some goggles that work?

Their goggles are bitchin, but paying $220 for a set of airbrakes is insane when you could get a nice pair of 100% for $50. Get 3 pairs of 100% goggles and a bunch of tear offs or get one set of the airbrakes? Ill take the 100% lol

What are the preferred model? And can you get a half mask for them?

From the looks of things, since a I placed an order a few weeks ago, they seem to be moving away from the Oakley O frame. There were very few lenses offered and not as many color schemes.

This is a solid goggle that someone can afford to have multiple pairs of. Our race goggle bag has about 7 pair with all different lenses. I hope they don’t go away anytime soon. I don’t want to replace 35 dollar goggles with 135 dollar goggles.

I hear you! Spy was the only goggle I could find to not let dirt & dust in my small head/helmet. Gotta make these last forever.

I have a pair of O Frame because they are small and let me breathe well through my nose and because I find replacement lenses, but I have noticed that the last time they were not in stock in several large stores ....

I was a loyal Oakley guy for 20+ years, but recently had to buy some new goggles and decided to go for the EKS goggles after seeing they were Rich Taylor's company. I am super impressed. It will be interesting to see how they hold up but the fit and quality so far is great. I have 4 sets and love them. My son keeps "borrowing" some of them instead of using his goggles.

Years ago I used to help with fire and police races looking for product support for product tosses, gift bags etc. I always got a response from Scott, a large box with a dozen goggles, shirts, hats and stickers. I never heard from Oakley. I always got the impression you to be a big shot or a really hot prospect to get anywhere with them. To me they went for maximum exposure, didn't seem to have too much interest in the people that got them where they are.I was a Scott guy for a long time because of it. I now run EKS Brand goggles.

I quit Oakley because they're owned by that monopolistic horde, Luxxotica.

Yeah, and if I remember right the way they bought Oakley was some underhanded corporate capitalism at it's finest. Because of a so-called disagreement on MSRP's Luxxotica pulled all Oakley's from Sunglass Hut and a handful of other retail stores they own. That in turn drove Oakley's stock price way down and Luxxotica bought them. If you're concerned about buying a brand that is core moto, Oakley now could not be further from that. Dirty business, but I guess in today's current corporate environment, it's fair play.

I used to run o frames, now run o2's and really like them. Can get them with a half mask. I heard the o frames were being replaced by the o2's. The o2's also fit over my glasses without needing to go to an otg goggle

Could you ask them a question next time?

I am curious about their large contracts for military goggles with the US Armed Forces. It has to be a much larger volume of product and profit when compared to MX volume.

Likely they receive a fare amount of financial support from those contracts to R&D and make new product to meet changing demands.

Is the military product driving new technology that then trickles down to the design of their MX (and really all action sports goggles) product lines? Would they continue if the contract funding was suddenly cut?

We had a local promoter that did the same, except he kept the whole lot of goggles instead of handing them out at the end of the series like he was supposed to (we believed to later sell in his shop)...always kicked myself for not turning him in...

My first pair of goggles I had when I started riding were SPY and they had to have lasted me 2 years. I then got some O frames that last forever and just recently got some Dragons on close out on eBay for $50. I like a quality pair at a solid price.

Not sure about you but I can only wear one pair of goggles at a time. I would rather have one pair of great goggles than 3 average pairs.

So over priced and over rated. Plenty of decent goggles for half the price and work just as well. 100% And EKS to name a few.

I have about 6 pairs of Oakley's and a pair of 100%. The 100%'s are very nice, but I'm just loyal to Oakley. I probably have 5 pairs of their sunglasses. Just got a pair of Air brakes and really like them. I know there are other good brands out there (100% being one of them), but I'm just an Oakley guy. Have been since my first pair of Oakley sunglasses.
