Why can't RV come through the pack in SX?

We all know the Villopoto who can carve his way through the pack to get 3 consecutive National Titles and to come from midpack to amke up 16secs on Alessi at Glen Helen last year leaves no questions about his ability on the big bike

But why can't he make the passes in Supercross. All the races he has won have seem to be the ones he has been in the top 3 out of the gate.

It could be as easy as saying the field is stacked this year and maybe he's just not as good at SX than MX but if thats the case how did he manage to pull off the fastest lap time of the night, a 48.9, when the majority of his laptimes were in the 50's and 51's?

Did you not see the San Francisco SX?

As far as sx vs mx: SX-tight one lined slick tracks with 15-20 minute main events. MX-35 minute motos longer/wider tracks. Do the math which is easier to come from behind on?

Easy has nothing to do with it. There is no easy in moto and there are no asterisks.

SX sucks MX does not. What is so hard about that?
The fastest rider does not always win in SX.

jump-jump-turn

jump-jump-turn

1 good line through the short whoop section

MX is much more enjoyable than SX, but hey, it's winter !

even Stewart gets hurt riding at that level in SX

The only 3 riders capable of coming through the pack(from outside the top ten) in SX are the King, the Goat and Bubbles. That's it. I've never seen anyone blitz through a group of riders like those 3 could.

The tracks this year have not been easy to pass on.

The top 4 guys are relatively close in speed.

We got spoiled by RC, Bubba, and Reed carving up everybody in front of them when they got a poor start.

49 second lap times! RV did good getting up to 4th place. Daytona showed what RV can do on a more challenging track.

Id say because you can only ride that Dallas SX track so fast. Get too aggressive and you'll actually lose time. Also, there's only so much speed you can carry through a rhythm section. Kevin Windham passing Davi early in the race hauling balls through a section, but over jumping a following triple is a good example.

Dallas track was shit house, end of story...

One lined, No bermed, dry ass, follow the leader rhythms, nowhere to really block pass, piece of shit...

Big ass stadium with the year's smallest track... Go somewhere else, or change the track and run 20 min motos at SX races... PATHETIC!!!

Which under 50 second narrow one lined track did Bubba and Reed carve through the
pack on last year. I just can't remember seeing that race. Can someone enlighten me.
Saturday nights race was 16min.35sec. for 20 laps. I don't think were getting our moneys worth. There shouldn't be a track in the series that is less than a 55 sec. fast
lap.Your not going to see much passing or anyone coming through the pack on a track
like Dallas. Only 2 riders moved up more than 3 positions from their 1st lap position. Are they trying to make it so the only way you can pass is to stuff someone. I for one was
not very impressed with what was supposed to be a impressive venue. Like many of you
I can't wait for the Great Outdoors.

+ 1

That track was so narrow. I am assuming they ran out of dirt.

I hear everyone say that RV is the new RC, but RC could come through the pack, from last to top 3 after a bad start and RV can not. New RC? I don't think so.

RV can't even come through the pack even a thin as the field is right now.

Can't James Stewart come from last to first?

Hey casemark, how many SX wins did RC have through his first 2 years. Compare apples to apples. How many riders have scored 7 SX wins(and counting) in there first two years. The answer to your question is no, not in Dallas. I guess dead last 20th place in San Diego this year up to 4th wasn't coming through the pack. Your right RV is not that good at SX, but I guess you could say that about Jeff Emig, Johnny O'Mara, Doug Henry, Mike Kiedrowski and all but 19 other riders in SX history that have more wins than RV. Well if he keeps trying, maybe he will get the hang of it.Huh
