Hi guys! I’m looking at buying an xc 150 or sx. Does anybody do woods riding/enduros with an sx125/150? I’m tempted to buy an sx due to their price and put a battery and light on it for enduros but I’m not sure if they would have enough low end power for woods riding. So does anyone have an sx125/150? Are they good for woods? Also, anyone own a 2011 xc150? Are they a good bike? Any issues with this year? Good power down low for woods? Thanks !

I had a 2010 bored to a true 156cc. Currently have a 2017 150xc-w that has more low end and more power every where. Engine needed a few things in stock trim, installed a VHM head with sx insert, better reed block, carb splitter and slide/jetting. If not concerned with ultimate low low end(150 standards), no need for the carb splitter.

I rode with a guy on a 2017 TE150 this past weekend in the mountains of Central California. The guy was in his early 60's and RIPPED on the thing. Even up steep hills. I was shocked!

I have a 2011 150XC with 175 hours on it, and I absolutely love it! I would strongly recommend a 150 over a 125, more bottom end power and easier to ride in the woods. Plenty of power to climb hills, I've never pointed it up anything that I didn't make. On single track it's like riding a bicycle, very light and nimble.

I owned a lot 144/150 KTM SX the last years 2008/2011/2012 and now 2016 Model.
Ride 80% MX and 20% Enduro, for me the best bike i ever had.
Light-Fast and very reliable, disassemble the Engine for the First Time after 3 Years with
170 hours and no noticeable Wear .

So they wouldn’t be great for woods riding?

Would the 2013+ sx 150’s have enough low end power for enduros/woods riding?i have a 03 yz125 at the moment but it’s no good in the woods, I’m looking at a 150 for smoother power delivery and bottom end. What do you think of an enduro sx125, would it be worth it or should I just get an exc/xc? Thanks

I ride my 2016 SX125 offroad and it's verryyyyy On and Off power wise, nothing to lug or ride slow. Lots of clutch work. Not sure how much savings you are having but I think the XC might be easier to ride off road or you might end up spending the difference in money trying to adapt it for off road.

They do, but it's now red and for some reason they sell it in the dealerships with the Beta's

Works great up here in Idaho. KR smoked everyone at a GNCC a few years back on the older style 150. The Gas Gas 200 or Beta 200 are probably very good also. Guys have won desert races on 125's.

Do the Beta's actually use the Ktm 200 engine? Or is it their own design based off the Ktm?

I'm not an actual kid

The KTM 200 engine was first produced in 1997. Minor updates along the way. The Beta will be far superior.

The 150 motor was all new in 16' ., wt. is 4lbs lighter than previous generation
My 16 motor is more mid top oriented than my 13' & 15' were
However the 16' - up motor is very easily & inexpensively massaged to make whatever power type you want .
Have an LMS head insert , stk pipe , shorty pc mx silencer . Stock Kehin , red pv spring & crazy 13/52
I like good low end power & this 16' pulls one gear taller than a stock bike & rips on top higher r's than the 13' , 15'
There is barely room for a few more cc's in the bore & none for increasing stroke
Ride enduro's h. scrambles & some moto

I’ll be riding the same with mine. I’d say I’ll be looking at a 12 or 13.

Has anyone actually seen a Beta 200 yet? I heard that their preorders were very low and that it may not happen.

I had a '13 and put close to 100 hours on this bike, maintained it and rode MX/Cross country. The bike was super fast and pulled my 200# ass up the mountains of Arkansas with no issues. Of course they are small bores so expect it to be such and ride it like you stole it. I'm back on a 450 but I'd love to have a new 150.

My wife has a 2014 150xc. I have put about 30 hrs on it in the woods. I have found it to be a great bike, was very surprised it hauled me around. 210 lbs 6’2”. The few things that suck comparing to my te300 is no electric start, bottom end let go at 40 hrs. The bike is killer for tight woods/tech trails

Have you been in any Beta forums or Thumpertalk? A ton of people are interested in them.

Some of their 2019 models haven't hit dealers yet. I know the Xtrainer last i read was scheduled for January.

Internet interest does not equal people actually buying motorcycles in many cases. I'm not sure about the Beta 200 but its something I heard.

It's fairly documented that the old throttle cables could get pulled out. I had that problem with my steering damper pulling the cable out. Thread in cables are cheap and well thread right into the stock carb. KTM changed it in 14 or 15.
