I plan on caring my riders to a couple of the amateur days at Arenacross events this year. Both will be riding stock yz250f's. I am looking for gearing advice.

I have just added an ax track to our home track, so plan on doing some testing but looking a good starting point. Only have a month to the first gate drop!

At least one tooth added to the rear is a good starting point. You will be amazed how much you'll be able to hit / clear in 2nd n 3rd gears. You might hit 4th in the whoops and the straight.

My son rides a 17 YZ250f, stock motor, slight valving tweaks for local arenacross races. He is a top local pro rider. He runs a 13/52 for gearing. The local races here are 5000-6000 feet altitude.

All about the 13T/49T!!! 13/50, 13/51, 13/52 and I feel like I'm on a 125 (on a STOCK bike on tight technical track)...Let us know how everything turns out and good luck. Test with different track conditions as well Smile

I haven't raced arena cross in some time. The last time I did was on a 1998 yz125 and I used 13/51 for the gearing. It kept me in 2nd and 3rd gear.
