Such a fun bike. No power, but a killer chassis.

Tip... go UP one tooth on the front sprocket. It will kill what little bottom end the bike has, but it will pull much longer up top. Best mod I ever did if you plan to ride it aggressively.

And I haven't owned once since 2013, but parts were very easy to get

Yeah parts are pretty easy to get. Sometimes the electrical stuff can sometimes get fun though..

I rebuilt an 03 from the ground up like 2 years ago and found everything I needed including complete crank.

Harris Performance has mods listed on their website. He posts on here sometimes and is super helpful, maybe he can give you some direction on a go fast(er) set up.

I had a 2002 with a milled head and it was a good bike. Definitely had to run race gas in it.

Crazy to think that the CR 125 was the horsepower king in the early 90's and ended up a turd with a killer chassis

X2 on everything said so far. You won't have any trouble finding parts (new or used).

The two best pieces of advice I received:
1. Actually try to blow it up, to go fast
2. Don't record yourself riding it

She's underpowered but easily one of the most fun bikes I've ridden

Is that because she's slow? or because it's a 125 and no one is going as fast as they think on a 125?

A little because the bike is slow, mostly because I'm slow. Nothing is more emasculating than feeling like you're traveling Mach-damnit only to check your wife's iPhone video and wonder how you didn't just tip over from moving so slow

It sure sounds and feels fast so I don't want any video evidence that it's not

Hahaha!! That's why I stopped using my GoPro unless I'm trail riding. Always feel like I'm haulin' until I watch the gopro footage.

At least one a 2 stroke you can make it sound like you're going fast!

I've had a 2003 CR 125 for about 4 years. Overall, its been a great bike. I've taken the time to adjust the carb based on my geography, air temp, etc. Change the air filter every ride, change the transmission oil every time (use the cheapest type F I can find). Usually use OEM pistons, change about every 12 hours. I've got a 134 cylinder from Eric Gorr, it really didn't make much of a difference. Keep it clean, keep your bearings greased up, use OEM parts, you'll have a great bike. Don't listen to the people who call it slow or fast. Trust me - if you know what you are doing, you'll have no problem keeping up with 95% of the guys who are weekend warriors who ride 4 strokes.

Try and find a '97 engine to swap for the newer gen cr125's.

Yep, I got a go-pro for my birthday years ago. Strapped it on and blistered a few laps. Got home and watched the footage...I think you could see the grass growing as I crawled around the track. I put the camera back in the box.

Where did everybody get these red Elsinores? I thought they were silver and green. Did I miss a year?
Big laughs on the slow looking video footage comments. Shoot low from the tall gear.

My 03 I bought last December for $2300. Super clean and had 6 hours on a full OEM rebuild. Love the bike, super light, handles great, and parts are plentiful and cheap. My yz250 never gets ridden anymore. Planning on a race gas cut for the head and new plastics/graphics because running a single digit for as slow as I am is lame ?

Have since added:
-Michelin starcross 5 mediums
-53/13 gearing
-7mm powervalve mod aka piece of fuel line over the stop pin
-Boyesen Rad Valve
-04 KX125 pipe with PC shorty. Very noticeable gain throughout powerband from the PC pipe.
-32.5 pilot/ 420 main/ YZ125 6BFY42-74 in clip 4(this needle helped immensely) No longer feel the need for a pwk swap.
-Feed it sunoco 110 with Klotz STP @32:1

This is me on my 02' CR 125. This bike is so much fun. Just remember to turn the gas on. If you are competitive as I am, it is a blast to pass 4 strokes while on it. But it is nice to have the excuse of it being a 125 in case you get passed!!! HAHAHA

People live to trash the cr125. But they are fantastic bikes and handle great! Here’s my 02
