What is the deepest/roughest sand track out there? I always hear Lommel within professional races, but what other tracks are out there that are maybe just local or practice tracks that are really gnarly?

Lommel and Lierop on a GP weekend is probably the roughest tracks in the world.

It's a shame that we wont see any races at Lierop in the future.

I used to practice at a place called Overpelt in Holland (or Belgium?). It seemed to be just waste ground rather than a proper track, that was not marked out and probably never graded. Rough as Hell.

...assuming Hell is a really rough place, of course.

Dunkirk practise track also known as "Loon plage" is pretty deep, basically on the beach.

There are a lot of deep sand tracks in Holland. Horst, Well, Budel just to name a few. Lommel is def one of the roughest though

That is a track we usually see from lots of GP guys in the offseason, i always wondered where it is.

It's incredible to watch videos of Herlings on that track.

Lewis Gregory at Loon plage.

I dont have a very great level but Lommel still cool, Dunkerque the old track was so long .When all tracks are closed Dunkerque is open lol.

Olmen is very fun, Axel is a good track to learn how ride in sand.

The sand requires a good level to have fun.

Yes, I rode the '81 winter series (amateur) and it was one of the tracks. Gnarly! Barnett made it look easy!

True... practice days vs race day is a compleet different ball game

Southern Netherlands is basiclally the original coastline before the construction of the dikes and the reclemation started, this is clearley reflected in the soil structure, black-sand is beach-sand mixed with compost

Lierop is deep and gets very rough, Lommel has a harder base, and the ruts are deeper with more solid sides.

In the UK we have Fat Cats, which is basically a flat field with jumps, but the two tracks there are totally different to ride, even though they are 100 meters apart.. the front track has darker sand, the rear one is redder, and looser, it may as well be miles away .

Hawkestone used to be sandy, but its had clay added over the years, and its not as deep as it used to be.

Not sure, but it was certainly a similar place. Helings is awesome to watch in that stuff.

I remember watching Eric Geboers at Lommel once and thought that he probably used half as much fuel as me because he just carried so much speed everywhere he hardly seemed to be revving.

You talking about the one in the middle of the base, very close to the barracks? Track was fun as hell!
