I have a set of MXST for my Honda and I had Starcross 5s on before. I love the MXSTs. I road a 18 Suzuki with the Hoosier rear and didn’t love it but it was a different bike. I don’t think Hoosier makes a front tire.

Front tires are coming.

I put a Hoosier rear on my 450 and it looked like a Hoosier circle track tire at the end of the moto.

I’m on the east coast so sand, red clay and some good black dirt. Hoosier doesn’t have a front so that should help with your decision. Sounds like they are working on one, but not yet.

Huh ??

I have 10 hours on my rear Hoosier and it’s still got a few rides left on it. Not only is it wearing much better than I thought it would, but it’s the best rear tire I’ve ever run.
Make no mistake, Hoosier tires will NOT disappoint.

Tire opinions are like assholes

At the end of the day - your laptimes wont differ much from any brand name tire. Some last longer some last less - buy according to your desires of longevity vs grip

Agreed. Who ever has the deals on gets my coin..
I’m hoping the maxxis will be cheaper than the others.

Not sure where you ride but down here in the Dirty south we shred pretty hard. The Hoosiers just don’t cut it. Don’t get me wrong. They are a good looking tire but if you need a bad ass tire go with the Maxxis

Hoosier recently restructured the pricing on the rear tire to $105. They offer 2 different compounds the 20 is the soft and the 25 is a medium compound. The 20 works well on tight, slick tracks when you need instant grip. The 25 works well with fast abrasive tracks or very aggressive riding style. The 20 that Hoosier offers is their version of a race spec tire, except everyone can get it. We have found through testing that grooving the 25 offered a middle ground between the 2 compounds. One big factor of the Hoosiers is weight, they are around 1.5-2 lbs lighter. Check out www.mxracetires.com

Well that makes sense, the new 120’s that I got are not the same compound as the 110’s were.
I have not ridden with the 120 yet, but I’m hoping it works as well as the 110’s did. The knobbies are not nearly as soft as the 110....

The 25 compound was added in the middle of the summer so it was a little under the radar. The 120 has been received very well in either compound. Here is a photo of the grooving i've done on a 20.

Sounds like there will be a 30 compound as well...

I’m really looking forward to trying the front (20) compound tire. I used to get the Dunlop RR tires and the front was really good for a tire sold to the public.

I can say that I’m super impressed with the 20 rear so far. I’ll post my feelings on the 25 compound /120 tire as soon as I get to ride that bike. I’m going to put the 2nd 110/20 rear that I have, on my RM 250, since I got the 120,s for my 450. If they decide to do a 100 rear tire, I’d like to try one on my 150.

I won a set of the MXST from the fly racing moto:60 show and I have only put on the rear. It worked well here in New England, but not as good as a Dunlop 3S when it came to some harder stuff.

Shaun is no slouch on a bike. The dude rips and knows his stuff. And if a tire will last here in So-Cal, it'll last anywhere!
Right Shaun?

Yep 30 rear will be coming down the line. A lot of 125's are running the 110 20. The Hoosier's size up a little narrower and with the weight savings it works out fine. We had 250 riders running the 120 as well, mainly a rider feel preference.

Do you groove all your new tires? I guess I knew about this in road racing but didn't ever think to look for it on a moto bike!

I would only groove if you want a little more feel and extra performance. If its just for a weekend warrior, its not necessary. The tire is already great but this added more feel and confidence. An extra sharp edge always helps.

The 110 definitely looked thin on the 450, but no complaints on how it worked. I noticed the weight difference right away. (Side by side, not on the track) I’m going to put a 110 on the 150 and try it out.

One thing I did notice with the narrow tire, is it seemed to track better in the corners with ruts. We don’t get very deep ruts at most of the tracks I ride, but I did have a couple days where they got fairly deep in the corners.

The great things about tires is the wear out (and sucks for the wallet)
Go buy 3 sets - a maxxis - a pirelli - and the michelin

You will eat them up in a year's time - and can compare to your hearts content.
