You see those large access covers on the back of the propane tankers going down the highway. I wonder what kind of explosion could be generated by putting a few oxygen tanks and some sort of detonator down inside the tanker before filling it. Would be easy enough for some suicidal maniac to drive into a city, or even a busy tunnel.
I'm no explosives expert, but I suspect that would be fairly powerful.
I did some back of the napkin calculations.

Ammonium nitrate:
1.4MJ/kg=1326BTU/kg x 1000kg/1tonne x 2750tonnes
=3,646,500,000 BTU

Propane LPG:
91330BTU/GAL x 3500 gal (max for 2 axle bobtail tanker)
=319,655,000 BTU

So just a small tanker has about 10%of the energy of what was seen in Lebanon.

I think that the biggest ones are 10-12,000 gallons, as some states allow you to gross over 100,000 pounds. The truck I normally drive (hauling wood by products) is legal for 105,500 pounds here in Oregon.

Ammonium Nitrate is also a very fast explosive. I doubt propane would compare.

Would it be bad? Yes, but nothing like if that same truck were filled with AN.

To think I walked past the area just a year ago.
Worried about the grain silos, Libanon has been struggling lately, and needed that grain. Hopefully the international community can help out in the investigation too. Heard they asked for a UN led investigation, probably smart

Yea some poor fork truck operator will get blamed for that one and his family will probably disappear.

Well there is a rising sentiment now that the people are demanding mid-level officials don't get dumped on here and to take it as far up the ladder as possible. As much as that should happen, I'd be surprised to see it. But hey, we live in crazy times. Maybe real accountability will start being a thing in 2020.

Looks like that building is all concrete vs steel pole warehouses which are the minority of other buildings around the port.

Wasn’t WTC concrete?
I don,t know about that. But there was a bar and a restraunt on the 106th floor in the North tower. 60 or 80 bucks to go up, I gave the man a 100 and said keep the change.

The Lebanese government has resigned over this mess. Probably got plane tickets out of there too before they get lynched.

Anyone really think the prime minister knew what the hell was going on? i doubt it
Someone up high was ignoring it, who was the mail sorter? I'm actually kinda glad it's the guys at the top being thrown under the bus, usually it's the poor guys at the bottom while the rich fuckers retire to a beach house in another country.

"They are accused of failing to take sufficient measures to prevent the devastating explosion. According to local media, they had received several written notices warning them of possible impending danger."
