I didn't click on the Hawaii thread, so I have no idea if it took a wrong turn, but if motoxdoc's thread is still alive, I'd say the poster deleted it.

I was the OP, I ended up deleting it. No real reason other than I spent some time reading on the subject after making the thread, not really my scene out there.

Thanks for the reply in it APLMAN. There was only one or two other replies, didn't want to see it keep growing when I was being lame and already bailing on the idea.

If you're still on the fence and you're in the construction/infrastructure business, you might want to check out these guys. I know some local guys get their living expenses paid for, but not sure exactly which jobs qualify or not for those perks. This company started out in our little area and the corporate offices are still here but they've grown incredibly.

One of the things that surprised me when reading up is the lack of a ferry system between the islands, it's all by air.

In my head I saw myself loading up a street legal dirtbike with camping gear and hitting the other islands on weekends to explore. Doesn't sound very viable.
