I know many of us enjoy a good home cooked meal, BBQ etc. When you guys/gals head out to eat, what’s the first place or two on your mind? I have a couple of places. Captain Kidds in Redondo Beach California and, Anthony’s in Des Moines Washington. Both are seafood places. Captain Kidds has awesome paella and clams. Anthony’s has seasonal Copper River salmon that can’t be beat. What’s your favorite place/places?

The last really good meal that I ate in a restaurant was at Houstons on the Plaza in KC. To be honest, ever since I’ve honed my own cooking skills I find most dining out experiences to be subpar and leave feeling like I could have had a better meal for half the price if I’d just stayed home.

Sugarfish by Nozawa for sushi, Granada's in Burbank for Mexican, and Uncle Andre's for BBQ for me. Sushi, Mexican and BBQ are really the only foods I enjoy eating out more than eating at home.

As Reded mentioned, I have learned to enjoy eating at home for half the costs because most places really aren't worth what they charge or serve.

There's a local kitchen chain in San Diego that used to be called Oscar's. Then it was Pat & Oscar's (he got married or something,) then it was O's American Kitchen (got divorced?) Anyway, I'm worried they are going out of business, but they make the best greek salad, lemon chicken and breadsticks I've ever had, by far. I could seriously drink their salad dressing if there was no water.

That, and the local Mexican hole in the wall in my home town. Apparently, lots of freestyle and moto guys eat there because their jerseys are all over the walls.

Topwater in San Leon, TX. (Between Houston and Galveston)

Drunken redfish and royal red shrimp are pretty damn good.

Their Bloody Mary’s and oysters are good too.

You can dock your boat and bring what you caught that day and they’ll cook it up for you too.

Any Brazilian Steakhouse like Fogo or Texas De Brazil. (Chains I know). But Brazilian Steakhouses are the best!

Ray's Tavern in Green River Utah is traditionally where you go after doing the Five Miles of Hell.

Beachend Cafe in Miura, Kanagawa Prefecture Japan is one of my new favorites. Doesn't hurt that it's only 2 blocks from my house, too.

I don't know if it exists anymore, but Cotija's Taco Shop in San Diego was always my go-to Mexican joint when I was growing up.

If you ever find yourself in Rosarito beach Baja, go to Ollies pizza just north of Las Gaviotas. Best Italian place I've ever been. They have some unusual pizza's an use all fresh ingredients they grow across the street, and cook in brick ovens imported from Italy, For appetizers they serve little squares of different kinds of spicy cheese with fresh honey to pour over them, un-fucking believable...Plus they have all kinds of good Tequilla and the owner is always there and a character who loves to tell you all about the place.

I’m with you man. I grew up cooking in all kinds of restaurants from tex mex, steak houses to pizza and sub shops. I know most of the tricks and can cook a mean tenderloin. I rarely enjoy going out to eat to the point that my wife won’t let me order steak or anything I can make at home because she doesn’t want to hear me complain lol.

The only places I really enjoy are Italian restaurants. I never leave disappointed. There’s something about great Italian food that always leaves me happy. There’s a place in spring lake, mi called Two Tony’s that has my favorite chicken parm and manicotti. If it has to be a chain style place, Olive Garden is always our goto.

I have had some great BBQ in Alabama. After riding Sand Mountain, a local took us to a place up the road that had some bbq that I couldn’t dream of finding in MI. I can’t remember the name but it was in a small little town and it was setup in a kinda Long John Silvers style small indoor picnic table setup.

I guess I'm just a pretentious asshole. The Ruth's Chris in Destin can't be better than the one in Salt Lake City. I know this because as a pretentious asshole, I've had both.

I have also eaten at a few different Ruth's Chris locations and Destin has by far been my favorite. The one in Dallas is horrible IMO.

Now there used to be a really good seafood buffet in Destin. I can't remember the name but that's where I fell in love with fried clams. Ate them until I was sick, then had more.

Are you thinking of White castle?

If yes, I've got bad news for you. It is a chain restaurant and doesn't qualify....

Hopefully after restrictions get lifted, I’ll get to check out some of these places. While looking at menus of these places, I’m eating PB&J. FML 😂
