I would have like to see a couple more lag bolts instead of the wood screws.

That's there to give it some flex when cornering. Geez some people just can't tell the difference between poor workmanship and design genius Silly

Don't knock it. I bet that hitch is good for 40-50 lbs of tow capacity, easy.

Looks like he drilled the hole for the ball crooked too.
It appears to be leaning forward.

Proper engineering says to do that to compensate for the expected flex. You don't understand the true genius as mentioned above.

Upon closer inspection that is actually the lock washer that goes on the other side underneath the nut. Not enough torque to crush it flat. SMH

shit like this is why I stopped riding motorcycles on the street.

That is about as sketch as it gets but even more scary is the stuff my aero engineers sometimes want us to install on aircraft. Luckily, I am old, argumentative, about to retire, and give zero fucks about hurting a snot nosed engineers feelings. "Are you a complete idiot or just here at work...do you actually WANT to kill people?" I am a firm believer that every student engineer should have a 4 year internship in his chosen field....as a tech...before they get their degree. There is no substitute for actual hands on experience. CATIA and some theory do not a good designer make.

I have a little time in aircrafting, and more true words have never been spoken.

Interesting world that is.

I had more than a few of those, and I was just a toolmaker.
"It won't work like that, this fastener is in the way."

"Yes it will, do it".

"Can I talk to the guy flying it"?

Don't argue, do it!

"No, I'm talking to the guy"....

I know, you know, how to make something from nothing.
I'm pretty sure the city boys all freaked out once we got welding machines. Holy shit!

The fun part of making something out of nothing is when it works and people try to figure out what parts were used in the fabrication. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰
