big news here as the iconic brand Holden is to be shuttered, pretty big news down here,

GM is getting out of the RHD market completely by the sounds,

this may effect supercars, as over half the field are holdens, not sure what will happen there,

their was talk of this happening before this as well, as Holden Special Vehicles convert these to RHD now,

who knows what will happen, be sad to see supercars as a single make series with only strange looking mustangs,

Unfortunately the writing was on the wall ever since GM's bankruptcy during the GFC. The product fell behind and really never caught up with the european and asian counterparts. They were basically just living off brand loyalty since then. Once production went off sure a lot of that good will i think.

The crazy part was in their heyday 50% of new cars sold in Australia were Holdens. They've been just a shell of that for a long time but it really is sad.

...and then the brand loyalty died when they started importing Daewoo's with Holden badges on them.

What were they, the only car brand in the world to not be a manufacturer? I Prob got that wrong.
They really stuffed their model decisions, all were pretty much bust and the fleet buyers deserted them. About 3 months ago I said to a mate who is a GM at a dealer (not Holden) that Holden wouldn’t last 5 years, he was like pfft, they’ll be gone before that. He reckons GM was throwing money at dealers to keep the brand.
A bit sad, I’d give me left nut for a WB Ute though
