The Shop
They were a bit of a thing over here 10+ years ago but never caught on, the sat navs now have fixed points built in and common mobile sites can be added by users.
I use my time behind the wheel to kick back and chill now a days, I'll wish ya luck from the right lane when you blow by.
Id also 3 wheel my way around the off ramps.
Inbetween those times im pretty much abiding speed limits on the road and go up to +10 km/h on the highway.
I find the people who drive very fast and aggressive all the time are actually terrible and sketchy drivers. I tend to find if you drive with momentum and know when to change lanes and read lights you get to the destination at the same time
Plus I can get over 20mpg driving below 70mph in my F-150, but over 70 it drops quickly.
The real reason I slowed down was because my better half is more comfortable that way.
I don't worry if I have to slow down for a slower car till I can pass safely, nor do I feel the need to run it up someones ass trying to get them to pull over. Watching the assholes going from lane to lane trying to pass, all the while flashing their lights at the car in front of them that's already going 10+ over the limit is nuts here in LA. When I end up next to them in the inevitable traffic jam I get to even have a nice chuckle.
Pit Row
I heard that the early models leaked radar or something and the cops had radar detector detectors.
That would be my only problem with having one. It's an $800 fine to get caught with one here.
At least you got the first one right
I've always had the habit of "rounding up" by 5MPH, ever since I got my permit. Just remember my dad always telling me that was the unwritten rule. It's been over 20 years since I've gotten a speeding ticket, so it's worked out pretty well so far. That last ticket was for doing 51 in a 45 on Entiat River Rd., definitely wasn't worth the extra 2-3MPH for $150 or so.
There's a few local, barely traveled roads that I stretch things a bit on, but not places where I'm unlikely to know the local law enforcement or their temperament.
I figure that my "slow poke" style has cost me being later to get where I'm going by about 30 minutes over 20 years. I can live with that.
I still speed, I'm just much more aware of my surroundings. And no real crazy moments anymore.
