Ive been a part of the offroad community and saw one forum after another stall out and die of no activity, everyone blamed social media.

So my question, what do you guys think keeps this place going when most everyone has switched to a faster, more visual means of socializing online?

X2. Also think it's due to Vital offering more content than just a forum. It's almost like a virtual magazine.

Vital offers way more than the forum, with pit bits, technical articles/write ups, QNA, and more. I don't see vital dying until gibby wants it to.

He keeps the bull crap out also.
Bashing each other might pull a few quick hits, but in the long run seems to drive a lot away.

Only other place that seems a bigger monster, and has been for a long time, ADVRider.

They keep it civil, a lot of the photography is fantastic, and he does it all on donations.

Majority are probably vet guys that don't do a whole lot of social media and this is their main go to. Plus this seems to be the main moto forum everyone comes and can find some inside info.

I do not Snap, Insta, or Tweet... and I don't know about any other platforms that I'm probably glad to miss out on. So, an online message board fits me best. This one's cool, and there are still a few RonRon friends on here.

i think the traffic has dropped off here from the good old days, but i think the moderation is a big part of why Vital is still going,

Big Lenny's didn't fizzle out. It went out with a bang. Smile
What was that, 3 or 4 years ago??? Good times!

I liked it better with lower moderation. In the long run, it's better how it is now, but still, the harsh old times where fun.

And, there you have it. I would only add to that we also have discovered a more effecient way to thank our fellow brothers.

It's a solid group of guys, with a love for moto, willing to battle it out over ideas but always down to find common ground over good burger recipes.

I dig the place. Big thanks to the mods for nixing problems (and problematic people) when they start dipping a bit too below board.

A bang and a Russian dude humming. FreeLenny.com had the best Saturday Night After-Party on the Interwebz.

Well, i knew about vital for a while before joining.

Part of what lured me was the smartass sarcasm frequently used, and there just seems to be way more insider knowledge here than anywhere else. Its cool that just because there are pro riders here, they aint always getting their asses kissed.

I just thought it was pretty crazy, all the gncc/offroad forums i was part of died off to literally zero activity.

I lurked for years here before taking the plunge. I was most active on local and regional forums, but like most, they died off. Plus, my interest and efforts were in the amateur side for quite a while. So, as the other forums died off, my interest in the pro scene was piqued again and I started coming to Vital more often. I would imagine quite a few people migrated here more regularly with the demise of most of the "grass roots" scene sites.

Thumpertalk and Allthingsmoto were pretty huge. TT still is I think, but I haven't been on it in a while

Does anyone remember the old supercross.com forum? Rick Johnson had his own sub forum there. I was a member there from like 2001 up to like 2007ish. I'm not sure what became of it after that.
