Just bought a really nice TT250 for the wife but seems to have an issue. The bike was being set up for racing by a previous owner and has a nice aluminum shock and race tech fork internals. It also has a Supertrapp exhaust and a new carb from Sudco which the owner thought was a 39mm which seems big? The bike starts up idles nice and runs really well until you start trying to ride it fast. It cuts out just like a rev limiter really early. About the only way to ride it is to grunt it around but as soon as the revs start to climb it cuts out? Carb issue? How can you tell the size of the carb? Any ideas would be great.

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue.
Float level been checked?
If it is set too low you will be running out of fuel.
Check fuel filter in the petcock for dirt.

OK, it has a new petcock , It leaked and dribbled fuel out the overflow when we were starting it so I thought they might be too high but good place to start, Thanks

Dropped the needle to the lowest position and runs way better. So I think one size smaller main should do the trick

you may need to go a couple of sizes smaller if it was that bad. Possibly a leaner needle too.
