Just found this 1983 YZ100, I always thought they were cool bikes, seem to be rather scarce, and would be neat to have a running one. But...this one has me wondering if it's worth searching for the needed parts, or call it a basket case and part it out?

Bad...Missing all of the top end/carb, bottom end rusted up good and tight, both wheels appear to be incorrect (rear for sure).

Good...tank, plastics that are there, and seat are decent. forks and shock seem to be in good working order, shock is feels smooth and damped rather than pogo stick.

Any opinions or parts sources?

Thanks!

how can anyone answer that but you? How much time, money and ambition do you have to have a fresh YZ100? Its safe to say you wont break on parts alone if you build it and sell it. Unless you find someone that wants a fresh YZ100 more than you

I would set that bike aside for parts. Go and find a bike that you can ride. You'll spend a few bucks but in the long run, a lot less than building what you have now, a lot less.

I totally agree. Gonna be alot of money... Its all up to you though. Just from the pics its the motor, carb, etc.. Yes, anything can be done but at what cost?

Sorry Tommy, I went against conventional wisdom and saved this one. Good luck in your search.
