Hi Guys,
I purchased a 1992 CR250 for a project build. The bike came with a FMF pipe installed that seemed to be in fairly good condition. I would like to use the pipe but am having problems with it fitting correctly. Fitment is so off that I thought it may be the wrong pipe. I called to check the numbers and they said it is the correct pipe for that bike. I then thought it may be the cylinder was not the correct cylinder causing the pipe to be mis-aligned. After researching, the cylinder is the correct one. I'm not sure if the pipe has been bent in a way causing it to not line up or what the problem is. It sits so high that it hits both shrouds and front fender causing them to melt. Please see pics below.

Here is an image of a stock pipe on a 95 CR 250 I just restored.

It does look as the pipe has been pressed up but not smashed.

I have an FMF that came off a 92 I am also restoring. I’ll get some image of the head pipe.

thanks for the response

after looking at a lot of pics online of other bikes, I'm starting to think the same thing....

does anyone know of a place that could bend the pipe back to specs? Or does it just make more sense to purchase a new one?

Often when a pipe is straightened out it will go back to its original shape or at least a lot closer to its original shape. Ask around locally as I'm sure someone has the tools to do it in your area.

It doesn't take much to bend a pipe. I was able to tweak a PSI pipe that wasn't fitting by sticking a broom handle in it. Your situation would need some creativity to clamp it so you can bend it
