Cagivas are the epitome of '80's cool

Love Cagivas.... those bikes rule. I never had one, rode Can Am and Kawasaki during those years. The closest I got was my 98 Husqvarna 125CR, it had Cagiva all over the place, embossed parts, etc.

Glad to see more of them in good shape!

I dig them, always wanted the Cagivas when I was still on 80's but before I got to the big bikes these were no longer being made. Such sweet bikes, loved watching Healey tear it up during the Golden State Nations and TransCal series. I will have one of these at some point and thought that I had an 88 250 a few months back but it was in too rough of shape to even try to bring back to life on the track...

Awesome.....Glad to see my old 125 looking good. I mostly rode it with a 38mm Mikuni Carb off a '12 CR 125 Husqvarna (also ran the same carb on my 88 WMX 250, as it came on the newest Italian Husky CR/WR 250). With the porting I felt it really ripped for an old non-power valve 125. Interesting history, that's an actual '83 WMX 125 but there is some confusion because they arrived so late they just sold them as '84 models in the USA. The actual '84's in Europe had 2 radiators and very few made it to the States. Ron Turner hole shot one moto of the '84 Saddleback National on his. In the early 80s Cagiva was growing fast and buying up other Italian brands. TGM had some good results (2nd in 125 World Championship) and a good looking motorcycle. Anyway, Cagiva bought TGM and that bike they sold as the 83 WMX 125 was essentially a Cagiva motor in a 1982 TGM chassis.....look up pictures of a '82 TGM and you'll see it's that same bike but in white. I love the 80s 125s and the whole Italian industry with racing success from so many brands like Aprilia, Gilera, you even had Benelli getting results in 125 GP's all the way up in '88/89 (using a TM motor). I asked a buddy in Italy why he rode Aprilias and all these other brands....he said up until around '86 the Japanese bikes were all just too slow. They definitely take some extra attention, but it's cool to have something unique and they really work well.
