Just started on this 91 CR-250, that had been left
to die in a barn in Spain for 20 years!
Engine is away for rebuild, so
Ive started to build Up the bike.
It was pretty low hours, so most is
salvageable.
Ive got plenty of trick bits for it, and
ive always liked the 1987 look,
so this is a 1991-1987 replica!!
the fuel tank and rad shrouds
are from a 1990 CR 125.
Footpegs are from a late CRF,
and fit pretty easy with a bit
of grinding down.
the seat has a new high foam fitted,
and along with the fat bar risers fitted
it makes the bike feel more
like a modern bike when riding,
as you are on the bike!
Not in it !! As these old bikes used to feel .
Ive put a brand new Ohlins shock from 96-CR-250, and ill run 1988 CR-250
Conventional forks on it.
Ill add more pics as build progresses

The Shop
the lug that I weld on is piece of 20mm steel bar
cut about 15mm thick, and then I cut a
7mm thread into it, then weld to frame
before being powdercoated.
as the CRF damper bolts are 7mm!
The centre of the thread that I cut in the lug is 8cm up from bottom
of frame headstock
mounting tube.
for the clamps, i usually
mount the damper to the
frame and fit the clamps,
then I check the best
place to drill and
tap the 7mm thread
hole, making sure the
damper doesn't top
or bottom out,
as it depends on what clamps you
are going to use, as to
where you can tap the
hole in the clamps.
ive fitted a least 10
of these on old cr's
and never had any problems,
I always run a cycra vented
front race plate
as it gives you a big
gap between the plate
and damper to allow free
movement.
try and buy the damper with the
bolts and spacers as it makes it
easier to fit correctly.
Greg
length, at 46.5cm or there abouts,
within a couple of mm,
my suspension man
has the list of all exact
lengths for every year
Honda cr, and I am going
to ask him for a copy
Of all the lengths for
future reference,
