93 CR 250 is the headshake that bad?

Found one for sale locally, and read some old reviews about the steepish head tube angle. Is the headshake really that significant on the 93 250, or is there a way to get rid if it?

Nah, I don't think it's bad at all. I say go buy the bike and if it does bother you, I think a steering damper will take care of it. You will love how well that bike turns!

It happens most of the time , when you a slowing down on a choppy, or rutted surface.
It is severe , but the engine is great on the
93-96 bikes

If you sort out the suspension you won't have a problem. Personally swapping to a 2004+ set of forks will do wonders for the handling.

Worse case add the Honda mini damper behind the number plate if you don't want to plunk down the money for a Scott's unit.

I would try a Scotts damper, but all the set ups Ive seen raise the bars so high they look like ape hangers, and Im super picky on bar height, bend etc. Does lowering the forks in the clamps make much difference?

i had a gp stabilizer on mine back in the day that went between the bottom of the bar and the cross bar with Mc bend renthals

Back in 93 we did not have a lot of options with the forks, they were harsh as hell, today I would bolt on a set of newer twin chambers, from an 07-08 crf 450... That will help a lot...

I race old CRs - keep your elbows out like you are supposed to, especially in high speed or braking situations, and.you will be fine.

There was one section of a practice track
Hard pack cross rippled
And every time when it was bone dry
My 94 would ricochet off of them and give me the head shake
My work around was to give it a stab of tear brake and it put a load on the front end
Scary though

Increase your race sag 5mm if you have it sprung correctly at both ends.

Got a 92' and I'll never get rid of it. Never had that issue with mine. A good suspension setup for your weight and it will be fine. I do have 96 forks on mine and an Olins rear shock. It's not like riding a 2017 bike, but by no means is it bad at all.

Remember most of the internet junk is just that, junk. If we could all ride like McGrath then maybe we could notice a lot of these issues.
