I did get these 2 bikes first day this year, did actually trade boys 2002 CR125 for these 2, so I and son can ride together whit simalar bikes. The 97 is a sunner that only needs some tlc as cosmetical upgradews (whitout front number plate in the pictures above), tha 95 however turned out to be in need of a full rebuild
Here they are home in my garage:

I started By pulling the 95 apart, I knew the piston was damaged, but no clue how, it looked like this:

Cylinder was like this:

looks quit ported to me

The former owner told me the exhaust valve was missing, actually just the cenrifugal unit that drives it was, but the arm that is betwen the centrifugal unit and cylinder is damaged, the splinse/gear is broken. The clutch cover has a weard weld jobb done:

soon the bike was striped down

The 97 I did put the number plate on, and a new rear fender, should be white but did only get a red locally. Also swamped the black radiator covers from the 95 to start whit, and did put in a new air filter. Now rear wheel is off, need new bearings as some spokes tighten, and yes, a better rear tire

As for the 95, the frame is now washed, think I will sand blaster it and paint it, the color is a bit tired, and partly repainted whit spray can, not nice

Looks like a couple of great bikes there. I am looking forward to see the finished bikes.

The 97 is pritty much done, can´t deside if I want the black or red seat

Blink

Did buy a -99 as spares (Whit a friend, he wants complet frontend, I get rest of bike), will sell everything that don´t fit. Had a sized engine that had sized aftre running a few minutes whit a new piston. As I opened it up the engine started to turn, piston indeed as new, just a few marks, looks like a wiseco. Cylinder has plating chopped at top of exhaust as intake side. Did open the small clutch cover, all looks not much ridden, seem the reason it was stuck was the kick starter had sized becorse of very bad oil, was black like from a diesel engine!

The 99 had a good rear wheel!

I would go with red seat with fresh number plate backgrounds and new tank/radiator wing decals. I would maybe add a fresh set of lower fork guards and that bike would look like a million bucks. After that ride it, have fun and keep it maintained.

I would go with red seat and plastics to make it look like a Doug Henry factory bike
