No, not by looking at their picture's. I purchased a 1981 YZ 250, as soon as I rolled it into the garage the clutch cable snapped and the throttle didn't work, brand new Buchanan spokes were bent. When the bike was stolen, I called the owner Jason for a copy of the title which I never received. Pete24 is absolutely correct.

Would not classify these bikes as " beautiful restores". Nice looking bikes, but, budget restores more accurate. Pick a bike on their site & zoom in... Look.... Closely. Many fasteners are hardware store metric bolts, hose clamps are automotive type, painted nuts & bolts, incorrect carb vent & gas line hoses. Rattle can paint jobs on engines & frames. No evidence any Oem bolts or shafts being correctly replated. Why? Because all the little details take a lot of time & cost more. Now, it would make me wonder to what extent did they save money on what can"t be seen inside the motor? I"m not knocking these guys, they have some very nice looking bikes. "beautiful restore" should be reserved for the person that painstakingly searches for that non existent last NOS part, or spends hrs in front of the bench grinder prepping the original fasteners for replating or gets the cylinder repaired & properly replated vs installing a " sleeve", or someone who even buys new Oem hardware, because most of it is still availible from the Oem"s...... It"s just not as cheap as going down to Tru Value for the 13 mm headed bolts...you get the point.....

Sandman nailed it. Zoom in to see all the flaws, wrong or dirty hardware, I saw a Tusk labeled shifter on one bike, lol. They would definitely need the finer details corrected if anyone bought one.

Soooooo...........Their bikes shown on their page are great......wallpaper for my computer. Have never seen one, but will file this info away should I ever see one.

To be honest, at those prices, I wouldn't be expecting a full tilt restoration with replated hardware etc. However, selling a bike with bad parts as a restore is B.S.

I was not expecting a full on restoration, I paid around $3500.00 for the bike I got, and then had to put $3200.00 into it just so it could sit next to the others, and it would have been nice if it was a 1978 like I wanted..

Somebody posted on here once who claimed he worked @ East Coast Vintage for a short amount of time and said he was literally shocked by how they run their business. Paint the frame, slap some fresh reproduction body parts it and spit shine everything else. Hate to speak badly about a business I've never dealt with; but the comments in this tread totally back up the comments I had previously read about them...

Anyone that has restored a bike knows the hours and money they sunk into their project. East Coast is a business. To make money on a bike to the standards of most of us here , they would have to charge 7k or more.
That doesnt excuse gas tanks painted that you cant spill fuel on or engines that need rebuilds before riding

I recently looked at a bike from EC.......The guy was really excited to have it and I couldn't bring myself to point out the crappy workmanship he just bought.

Elsinore 125 front clamps and forks (re hardchromed and rebuilt) uber cool mulholland rebuilt shocks, peter allen custom exhaust. altec electronic ignition.original seat and cover. new plastics .bare metal respray , 17" and 14" new wheels icluding tyres chain and sprockets, NOS (yes brand new out the box ) top end including barrel, head,valves,cam, camchain,  rocker cover and piston and rings. never really run long been in our collection for too many years and deserves a new home

I have seen many reviews all over the web that point out that these are rattle can resto's.
And then I saw one of their bikes that my buddies good friend purchased.
What a POS. Paid double what it was worth, hardy ran for more then 5 minutes.
Sold it for a huge loss after realizing he had been taken.
What a shame.

I would expect these bikes not to be at the hardcore vintage racers standards. I have over 3k into my KX . I did all the work and I am not a business where I have to support myself with a showroom
I would think bikes finished like we would build them to look at or race would have to sell for 2x the price

Anyone know who makes the plastics ECV sells? The pics dont show the quality (or lack of). There are only a few companys doing repo plastics. Im going to assume they are at the level of DC, unless otherwise informed.

As for the restores, its safe to say they are "polished turds"

I dealt with East Coast Vintage can confirm their work is rubbish. I call it rattle-can restoration. I spent $3500 on the bike then another $3500 rebuilding the engine, finding the right carb, rebuilding the forks (fork seals blew out before I even got it home), finding, buying and installing new cables and brake shoes, finding the right triple clamps (the ones they had on there were dangerously thrown together)...the list goes on and on.

The pictures looked great and it was the exact year and model I wanted so I sent the deposit. Went down and picked it up and it barely ran, they painted the hubs with a brush, painted the spokes silver, never bothered to pull parts off the frame when they spray painted it. But I chalked it up as a life lesson and moved on. I still love the bike the it's almost all been restored with original parts and I just need to finish a few cosmetic things and it will be as close to original as possible at this point.

Buyer beware when dealing with them.
