Factory works bike forks.

Were the forks from the very late 70,s and very early 80,s that special.
Light weight, long travel, but inside?
Anyone with photos please?

Machined aluminum lowers, ti and magnesium bits and rumors of cartridge damper rods years before they were available to the public...
Of course of what we know, in 82 Brad Lackey chose Simmons USD forks over the works KYB supplied on his factory Suzuki.
Looking at RJ's factory 86 CR250 recently it had adjusters on the top caps (rebound adjusters I'd assume as the stockers had compression adjusters on the bottom). RJ spoke about liking the damping of the conventional versions better but liked the stiffness of the USD version and that's why he used the USD forks mostly for supercross back then...
Lets hope they had some stiffer spring rates than the wimpy rates offered to the public back then too!!

Yes, all the things you mentioned. The biggest advantage however was they were fresh every week, dialed into the bike and rider using them. You wouldn't think much of them now but as examples of industrial art.
