Turns out the kx125 i bought today is a 1990 frame with an early 2000s engine. Can anyone confirm these numbers?

Paid 700 for it although needs a ton of work. Is it worth restoring or selling on? I was told it was a 2001 model😒

Cheers man a thought i had been done😂. Can you u tell from where the uoper shock mounts? Also do you know why the VIN has the L as 10th digit

The vin is strange, that I can't tell you why there is an L instead of a 1. As for the frame it's just looking at its construction and other parts on the bike to see if they tell the complete story. You'd be able to see quickly if it was newer style plastic and seat put on an earlier frame, those Frankenstein bikes stand out. Your frame is not close to the 90 frame style.

For Kawasaki at least, UK has engine numbers, not VIN.

2001 or 2002

2001 cylinder may have 1939 on it. head may have four numbers on it, the last four digits of the part number.
